Small Business Information Expo for Black Entrepreneurs
The Government of Canada is organizing a Small Business Information Expo for Black Entrepreneurs to help you get the information you need on a range of key business support programs and services from financing, to hiring, to innovation, to doing business with the government, to exports.

Open Science and Data Platform (OSDP) on the cumulative effects of human activities on the environment
Natural Resources Canada, in partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada, has launched the 
Open Science and Data Platform (OSDP) for cumulative effects, an innovative online tool that provides Canadians with access to data and scientific publications that can be used to understand the cumulative effects of human activities on the environment. News Release

CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

The 50-30 Challenge to improve diversity and inclusion at senior levels of management
In Fall 2020, the federal government launched the #5030Challenge to improve diversity and inclusion at senior levels of management across sectors in the country. The Challenge is offered in three distinct streams : large corporations; small and medium-sized enterprises (SME); post-secondary institutions, not-for-profits and charities. The streams allow participating organizations to strive to achieve their 50 – 30 goals in a way that best suits and reflects their needs and acknowledges the variety of sizes and structures of organizations, including those without boards of directors or senior management teams.

Call for high-capacity Black-led organization in Western Canada
Deadline : Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at 3 p.m.

Call for proposals to select a Western intermediary for the Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative. Non-profit or charitable Black-led organizations located in Western Canada/the Territories will have until April 7 to submit their proposals.

The Vaccine Community Innovation Challenge to support increased vaccine confidence
Deadline : Friday, April 9, 2021 at 3 p.m.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has launched the 
Vaccine Community Innovation Challenge to increase vaccine confidence among underserved groups. Individuals and/or groups are invited to propose creative ideas for communications campaigns that will reach groups within their communities who have been disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as those who have faced injustices in health care systems. Twenty finalists will be chosen by an expert panel and given $25,000 to develop their ideas and launch their campaigns. A grand prize of $100,000 will be awarded at the end of the Challenge period.

Help shape future of Indigenous early learning and child care
Deadline : Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 2pm

A call for proposals has been launched for the Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care Quality Improvement Projects. This call for proposals is targeted towards First Nations (on and off reserve), Inuit, and Métis peoples, governments and organizations and will support new approaches to Indigenous governance, coordination and delivery of culturally appropriate early learning and child care.  Press Release

Canada Nature Fund - Priority Places
Deadline: Thursday, April 15, 2021 3 p.m.

Community-Nominated Priority Places (CNPP) for Species at Risk is part of Canada’s Nature Fund. Growing Canada’s Forests program
Deadline : Thursday, May 27, 2021 5:00 p.m.

The Growing Canada’s Forests (GCF) program is the Government of Canada’s response to its commitment to plant an additional two billion trees by 2030. We are seeking Requests for Information (RFI) from potential future participants interested in implementing or contributing to large-scale single or multiple-year tree planting projects.

Competition for the Reuse of Materials from the Champlain Bridge
Deadline for the first state of the competition : Monday, May 31st, 2021
A Canada-wide competition was launched by the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) for projects that aim to reuse materials from the deconstruction of the original Champlain Bridge at a symbolic cost. The competition seeks to encourage the reuse of construction materials by giving a second life to over 400 steel components from the original Bridge. The JCCBI’s first step has been to launch a Call for Participation that will help gauge the interest of individuals, companies, and organizations in reusing components for architectural, artistic, commemorative, or creative projects. This stage of the competition will last until May 31, during which time proponents can submit an Express of Interest Form, which can be found on the JCCBI’s website.

Deep Space Food Challenge
Deadline : Friday, July 30, 2021

The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) announced the 
Deep Space Food Challenge in Canada, a competition to develop innovative ways of producing food for astronauts on space missions to the Moon and Mars, while expanding opportunities for food production on Earth. The Deep Space Food Challenge is in line with Canada's Space Strategy's commitment to harness space to solve everyday challenges on Earth – like access to nutritious food. All Canadian innovators are invited to submit a design concept for their food production technology by July 30, 2021. News Release

 

PUBLIC CONSULTATIONS

1 - 
Infrastructure Canada is seeking feedback on potential projects for the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program. The Program will provide up to $1.5 billion in federal funding for community buildings to support retrofits, repairs or upgrades of existing public buildings and the construction of new public buildings. Local governments, not-for-profit and Indigenous organizations are invited to submit project ideas through an online questionnaire.

2 - Open Dialogue: Artificial Intelligence in Canada, a series of virtual workshops to better understand the public’s perception of AI, will take place until April 30, 2021. NR.

Health Canada launched a consultation on draft guidance on personal production of cannabis for medical purposes. Deadline : Friday, May 7, 2021.

6 - The government launched the engagement phase in the development of Canada’s Blue Economy Strategy. Canada’s Blue Economy Strategy is expected to contribute to sustainable oceans, drive investment in our ocean industries, and create jobs in coastal communities as Canada charts its economic recovery from COVID-19. NRPortal. Applications to join Canada’s Volunteer Awards’ National Advisory Committee
Deadline : Thursday April 8, 2021

Every day, volunteers throughout Canada make valuable contributions to their communities. The Government of Canada recognizes the difference they make in the lives of fellow Canadians through Canada’s Volunteer Awards (CVA), with the advice and support of a National Advisory Committee (NAC). 
The NAC is composed of up to 15 leaders and changemakers who have demonstrated knowledge, experience and commitment as volunteers. Its members provide advice and recommendations on the selection of recipients in several CVA categories and build awareness of the CVA program.
