CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

 

Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund (CMIF)

Deadline: Thursday February 29, 2024

The CMIF will provide up to $1.5 billion in federal funding over seven years for clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects necessary to enable the sustainable development and expansion of critical minerals in Canada. The first call for proposals is open, with contribution funding available under two streams:

  1. Preconstruction and project development — for preconstruction activities required to advance projects toward a shovel-ready state
  2. Infrastructure deployment — for shovel-ready projects, including site preparation, construction, rehabilitation or enhancement of infrastructure, as well as capacity-building activities and engagement in support of Indigenous and other impacted communities

 

EcoAction Community Funding Program

Deadline: Friday, March 22, 2024

We provide financial support to non-profit and non-government organizations for Canadian communities to take on local action-based projects that produce measurable, positive effects on the environment and to build the capacity of communities to sustain these activities in the future. This year, funding is available for new projects that engage Canadian communities and clearly demonstrate measurable, positive results related to the following key environmental priority: Fresh Water. Wolastoq/Saint John River Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative

Deadline: Friday, March 22, 2024

As part of the Federal Freshwater Action Plan, the Government of Canada is taking action to restore and protect freshwater ecosystems of national significance through Freshwater Ecosystem Initiatives. The Wolastoq/Saint John River Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative will provide financial support for eligible projects that will improve the water quality and ecological health of the Wolastoq/Saint John River Watershed. Lake Simcoe Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative

Deadline: Friday, March 22, 2024

Lake Simcoe is the largest inland lake in southern Ontario and a significant source of drinking water for hundreds of thousands of Canadians. The region is one of the fastest growing in Canada with a thriving recreation and tourism industry. The watershed also contains significant natural, urban and agricultural systems including parts of the Oak Ridges Moraine. Through the Freshwater Action Plan, we are committed to collaborating with partners to support the reduction in nutrient pollution and resulting nuisance and harmful algal blooms to protect the health of Lake Simcoe for future generations. Youth Employment and Skills Program

Deadline: Monday, March 25, 2024

The Youth Employment and Skills Program (YESP) will contribute approximately $13.5 million to projects that employ youth and youth facing barriers. The Expanded Security Infrastructure Program

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until Sunday March 31, 2024 at 11:59pm

The Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP) provides time-limited funding and support for communities at risk of hate-motivated incidents/crime to enhance security measures at their gathering spaces. All projects supported through the expanded SIP must be completed and all funding spent by March 31, 2024. Applications for funding will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Approved project proposals are eligible for funding up to a maximum of 50% of total eligible project costs. To apply for the expanded SIP funding, you must send a completed application formbudget template and any additional required documents, as applicable, to [email protected]

Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis until March 2024

The Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative supports the construction of a minimum of 38 shelters and 50 transitional homes across Canada. Indigenous organizations and governments across Canada are eligible to apply.


Programming: Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters – Canada Arts Presentation Fund

Deadline: Monday, April 1, 2024

The Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters sub-component of the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) supports existing professional arts festivals and performing arts series presenters to offer activities that connect artists with Canadians in their communities. This is primarily achieved through performances, as well as through audience development and outreach initiatives such as pre- or post-show panel discussions, public lectures and workshops, residencies, demonstrations, public rehearsals, and other forms of community engagement activities.

 

Canada Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program

Deadline: Monday, April 1, 2024

The Program has two objectives: first, to increase access for Canadians to Canada's and the world's heritage through the exchange of artifacts and exhibitions in Canada; and second, to provide Canadian art galleries, museums, archives, and libraries with a competitive advantage when competing for the loan of prestigious international exhibitions. Canada Arts Training Fund

Deadline: Tuesday, July 2, 2024

The Canada Arts Training Fund (CATF) supports arts training in Canada. The CATF provides financial support for the ongoing operations of Canadian arts organizations that specialize in training artists for professional national or international artistic careers, at the highest levels. Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage - Local Festivals

Deadlines:

Building Communities through Arts and Heritage — Local Festivals component provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists; local artisans; local heritage performers or specialists; and local First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural carriers. This includes the celebration of LGBTQ2+ communities and Indigenous cultural celebrations. Tourism Growth Program

Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 2026

The Tourism Growth Program is open in Quebec with a budget of $21.1 million. SMEs, NPOs and social economy businesses that are active in the tourism industry can now apply for the program through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). The objective of the program is to increase the capacity of local attractions to build and consolidate a potential offer outside Quebec.

Green Freight Program - Stream 1 Assess and Retrofit

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2027

The Green Freight Program will help fleets reduce their fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through fleet energy assessments, fleet retrofits, engine repowers, logistical best-practice implementation and the purchase of low carbon vehicles. Stream 1 of the Program is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per Applicant towards Third-Party Fleet Energy Assessments and Truck/Trailer Equipment Retrofits. Natural Resources Canada has established a list of approved retrofit devices, of which a percentage of the cost will be eligible for a grant. This stream aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of the on-road freight transportation sector to adopt energy efficiency measures tailored to operational needs by providing financial support.

 

Indigenous Leardership Fund

Deadline: March 31, 2027

The Indigenous Leadership Fund is a new program under the Low Carbon Economy Fund. It provides up to $180 million by 2029 to support climate action by Indigenous peoples. The program will fund Indigenous-owned and led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon heating projects. Recognizing the unique rights, interests, and circumstances of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, communities, and organizations, the Indigenous Leadership Fund will use a distinctions-based approach to deliver funding to support projects that are Indigenous-owned and led, advance Indigenous climate leadership and support the self-determined climate, social, and economic priorities of Indigenous peoples. Department of National Defence Indigenous Reconciliation Program - Grants and contributions

Deadline: Funding submissions will be accepted as long as funds remain available for the fiscal year. A funding submission must be made by no later than March 1st of each fiscal year.

The Indigenous Reconciliation Program  provides funding for work that helps build and maintain relationships between Indigenous communities and the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF). Starting in fiscal year 2023-2024, up to $1.5 million in grants and contributions funding will be allocated each year through the Indigenous Reconciliation Program. This funding will be available for up to four years, ending in 2026-2027.

 

Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program (MARP) – Events¸

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Events component provides funding to community-based events that promote intercultural or interfaith understanding, promote discussions on multiculturalism, diversity, racism and religious discrimination, or celebrate a community's history and culture, such as heritage months recognized by Parliament. The Events component is actively seeking proposals that combat racism and discrimination; that provide opportunities for youth community engagement and involvement; and that build awareness and change attitudes. Severe Hate-Motivated Incident Support Stream (SHMIS)

The Government of Canada is committed to protect the safety and security of Canadians. Organizations who become victim of a significant and direct hate-motivated crime against their facility may be eligible to receive prioritized federal funding from the Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP)through its Severe Hate-Motivated Incident Support (SHMIS) stream.

 

Sport Support Program

The Sport Support Program supports the development of the Canadian sport system. Funding is provided to eligible organizations for programming that is aligned with the goals of the Canadian Sport Policy. The Sport Support Program is delivered through these components:  Sport Support Program

 

Museums Assistance Program

The Museums Assistance Program (MAP) supports heritage institutions and workers in the preservation and presentation of heritage collections. The program fosters the preservation of Indigenous culture and facilitates access to heritage collections for all Canadians. It also promotes professional knowledge, skills and practices related to key museum functions. Athlete Assistance Program

The Athlete Assistance Program (AAP) is a sport funding program that contributes to the pursuit of excellence. AAP support seeks to relieve some of the financial pressures associated with preparing for and participating in international sport and assists high-performance Canadian athletes to combine their sport and academic or working careers while training intensively in pursuit of world-class performances. Local Journalism Initiative

The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI) supports the creation of original civic journalism that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. Funding is available to eligible Canadian media organizations to hire journalists or pay freelance journalists to produce civic journalism for underserved communities. Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Support Fund is designed to provide resources to facilitate access to justice in both official languages through various means, such as the creation of legal and linguistic tools, workshops and training to bilingual lawyers and stakeholders of the justice system, the development of related training material and the provision of public legal education and information. The activities and projects undertaken pursuant to the Support Fund are aligned with the Government commitments of encouraging the participation of all Canadians in linguistic duality, and in supporting official language minority communities. Movable Cultural Property Grants

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis
Movable Cultural Property Grants help designated organizations acquire cultural property of outstanding significance and national importance to Canada, as outlined in the Cultural Property Export and Import Act. Designated organizations are located in Canada and demonstrate the ability to ensure the long-term preservation of cultural property. Grants can be used to purchase cultural property for which an export permit has been denied or that is important to Canada’s national heritage and available for purchase outside the country.

 

Canada Cultural Spaces Fund

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage culture and creative innovation. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces. Interested applicants should contact a CCSF program officer at their nearest regional office of the Department of Canadian Heritage prior to submitting an application. Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund is a partnership between the Government of Canada, Black-led business organizations, the Business Development Bank of Canada and other financial institutions. It will provide loans up to $250,000 to Black business owners and entrepreneurs across the country.

The Government of Canada has announced that the Loan Fund is accepting loan applications from Black business owners and entrepreneurs through the Federation of African Canadian Economics (FACE). Visit FACE to apply.

 

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

As part of the Government of Canada’s strengthened climate plan, A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy, the new Agricultural Clean Technology Program aims to create an enabling environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that will help drive the changes required to achieve a low-carbon economy and promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. The Research and Innovation Stream will support pre-market innovation, including research, development, demonstration and commercialization activities, to develop transformative clean technologies and enable the expansion of current technologies, in 3 priority areas: green energy and energy efficiency, precision agriculture, bioeconomy.

 

Rural Transit Solutions Fund - 2nd Phase

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Rural Transit Solutions Fund supports the development and expansion of locally driven transit solutions to benefit people living in rural, remote, Indigenous, and Northern communities. Eligible applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $3 million for conventional solutions (e.g., vehicle or software) or up to $5 million for zero-emissions transit solutions. Applications to the Rural Transit Solutions Fund’s capital stream will be accepted via the online portal. Infrastructure Canada will provide notification on its website in advance of the closure of the application intake. Support for Regional Quantum Innovation

Canada Economic Development's support for regional quantum innovation (RQI) aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and non-profit organizations (NPOs) adopt, develop and commercialize quantum technologies and products based on these technologies. It makes it possible to position SMEs and NPOs, in addition to the Quebec organizations that support them, in this emerging sector and strengthen Canada’s global leadership in the quantum sector. Business scale-up and productivity

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding, which aims to foster innovation and business growth, can be awarded at any stage of a business’s development. Projects submitted by SMEs or NPOs are funded for fostering expansion, productivity and growth through innovation. This funding is provided under the REGI program. Main sectors that are eligible are manufacturing, food processing, information, communications and multimedia technologies and life sciences. Diversify your Economy

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding aims to promote the regions and foster the development of local economies. Specifically, it is intended to help boost spending by tourists from outside Quebec; increase the presence of international organizations; strengthen economic activity in the regions by supporting local business projects; and generate investments and economic spin-offs through the acquisition of community economic facilities. Regional Innovation Ecosystems

This stream targets NPO projects that help create an innovation-friendly entrepreneurial environment that fosters the growth and productivity of businesses in a given region. The funding is provided under the REGI program. To be eligible, projects must meet one of the following objectives: foster closer ties among the players in the various ecosystems; foster the creation, growth and maintenance of regional clusters or attract foreign investment. Main sectors that are eligible: manufacturing, food processing, information and communications technologies and life sciences. Other sectors may also be eligible. Economic Development Initiative – Official Languages

The aim of this funding is to foster the economic development of official language minority communities (OLMCs). The funding may serve to kickstart innovative or entrepreneurial projects, solidify partnerships or diversify economic activities in these communities. Canada Small Business Financing Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Changes have been made to the Canada Small Business Financing Program  that cut red tape for small business and increase their access to financing. The changes include expanding financing eligibility to cover intangible assets, such as new product trademarks or software upgrades; increasing maximum loan amounts to 1,15 million dollars; extending government coverage periods for equipment and leasehold improvements; and introducing a line of credit option of up to $150,000.

 

Affordable Housing Innovation Fund

The Affordable Housing Innovation Fund  supports new ideas that will drive change and disrupt the industry – ideas and approaches that will evolve the affordable housing sector and create the next generation of housing in Canada. You can get funding for your innovations to:

Preservation Funding for community housing

Deadline : Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Preservation Funding for community housing  is a financial assistance to help community housing providers complete preservation activities related to the sustainability of existing community housing projects. The maximum Preservation Funding available per project to complete eligible activities is $50,000.

 

Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)  is funding to build and repair shelters and housing for people who are fleeing domestic violence. This program is open to all First Nations or First Nation housing organizations that operate housing for people fleeing domestic violence. The Net-Zero Challenge for Businesses

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis
The government announced the launch of the Net-Zero Challenge, a new national voluntary initiative for businesses operating in Canada. Businesses that join the Challenge commit to developing and implementing credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. Companies will benefit from technical guidance, best practices, a community of peer businesses and the opportunity to highlight their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. The Net-Zero Challenge also includes various participation tiers to encourage ambition and track progress in net-zero planning.

 

The Canada Digital Adoption Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis for the Grow Your Business Online” stream; the “Boost Your Business Technology ” stream is closed.

Determined to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize their full potential by adopting digital technologies, the Government of Canada has launched the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). CDAP comprises two separate funding components:


National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada announced that up to $50 million would be dedicated to building housing for Black communities.  Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations, up to 40% targeted funding for new affordable housing for Black households will be available. This program is designed to help Black-led organizations build housing and increase the supply of affordable housing for Black communities in Canada. The Fund prioritizes partnerships between Black-led organizations and other partners such as governments, non-profit organizations and other similar groups.

 

Coming up: Creative Export Canada

Stream will open in winter 2024

The Creative Export Canada program provides visibility and funding to help Canadian creative works achieve financial success abroad. CEC aims to heighten exposure of Canadian creative works in international markets and to increase export profitability for Canada’s creative industries.

Consultation on Strengthening Competition in the Financial Sector

The Department of Finance is launching a consultation on potential measures that the federal government could take to strengthen competition in Canada’s stable and secure financial sector, including working with provincial governments. To protect Canadian consumers, this consultation focuses on ensuring consumers’ access to a broad range of affordable, innovative, and consumer-focused services that meet their banking needs. This consultation builds on the Department of Finance’s previous consultation on the federally regulated financial institutions statutes, as part of the financial sector legislative review announced in Budget 2022. Market Basket Measure of poverty (2023-base) consultative engagement

Statistics Canada invites you to complete a short crowdsourcing survey to help validate how we measure poverty in Canada: Survey on the Market Basket Measure of Poverty. By selecting your province or territory, city, family size and housing tenure information, you can find out how much a family would need to spend in order to live above the poverty line in your community. The consultative engagement phase of the third comprehensive review of the MBM began with the publication of Launch of the Third Comprehensive Review of the Market Basket Measure. These consultative engagement activities will help inform decisions made to refine and update Canada's official poverty measure. By participating in this consultation, you will support Statistics Canada's ability to accurately measure poverty.


Consultation on the Implementation Framework for a Right to a Healthy Environment in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999

The document is open for a 60-day public comment period ending on April 8, 2024. The comments received during this period will be considered when developing the draft implementation framework.

Consultation on Scientific Research and Experimental Development

The federal government is seeking views on cost-neutral ways to modernize and improve the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax incentives.

Events for the Plastics Action Zone

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) will host a Plastic Action Zone (PAZ) on the margins of INC-4 at the National Arts Centre. At the PAZ, key partners and stakeholders can convene, network, and host events to demonstrate the domestic action, innovation, and collaboration across all levels of government, with Indigenous peoples, industry, non-government organizations, youth, international organizations, and researchers to end plastic waste and pollution. Language Assistant Program - Odyssey

Deadline: Tuesday, March 12, 2024

Odyssey is a bilingual, paid work experience that provides opportunities for postsecondary students to travel to another province. English-speaking candidates can work in English in Quebec or New Brunswick, while French-speaking candidates can work in French in a province or territory other than their own. Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, Member of the governing Council

The Natural Sciences and Engineering Council aims to make Canada a country of discoverers and innovators for the benefit of all Canadians. The agency supports students in their advanced studies, promotes and supports discovery research, and fosters innovation by encouraging Canadian organizations to participate and invest in postsecondary research projects. Youth Exchanges Canada

Deadline: Applications reviewed on a continual basis

The Exchanges Canada Program helps youth to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the country, while connecting with other youth in Canada. Youth Exchanges Canada supports a number of Canadian organizations in offering reciprocal exchanges for individual youth or groups of youth, generally between the ages of 12 and 17. Youth from different parts of the country are paired according to their ages and interests, then each participant takes a turn hosting their “twin” in their home.
