CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

 

The Community Interaction Programme (CIP)

Deadline: Wednesday April 10, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.

The CIP is a financial assistance program that supports community projects aimed at conserving and improving the St. Lawrence ecosystem. The Community Interaction Program supports community projects that seek to achieve at least one of the following objectives: conserving biodiversity, promoting sustainable use, and improving water quality of the St. Lawrence ecosystem.

 

2ELGBTQI+ 2024 Project Fund

Deadline: Wednesday April 10, 2024, at 12:00 (noon) PST

The 2ELGBTQI+ 2024 Project Fund will enable 2ELGBTQI+ organizations to support community initiatives that work to remove barriers to equality. School Health Grant for Youth

Deadline: Monday, April 15, 2024 at 5:00pm EST

The School Health Grant for Youth provides Canadian youth, ages 13 to 19 and enrolled in Secondary 3 to 6, the opportunity to apply for up to $1500 of grant funding. The goal of the grant is to empower youth to develop their own initiatives that encourage and promote healthy living in their schools and communities. Projects must match up with PHAC's mandate and encourage healthy living by teaching participants about important topics, sharing resources and information, and helping participants develop healthy skills. Identifying the root causes of irregular migration through economic empowerment in Honduras

Deadline: Wednesday April 24, 2024 at 12:00 (noon) EST

This program focuses on increasing the economic prosperity of small-scale farmers and training young workers. It aims to support the efforts of organizations to address the root causes of irregular migration by creating resilient, sustainable and inclusive economic opportunities for women and youth, particularly in marginalized and vulnerable communities in Honduras.

 

Building Communities through Arts and Heritage - Local festivals

Deadlines:

The Local Festivals component of the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists; local artisans; local heritage performers or specialists; and local First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural carriers. This includes the celebration of LGBTQ2+ communities and Indigenous cultural celebrations.


Google’s open call for news organizations
Deadline : Tuesday, April 30, 2024

Google launched an open call for news organizations to deliver its promised contribution as part of the Online News Act. This is the first step in allocating the $100 million in financial support annually, indexed to inflation, that was previously announced. This funding will support a wide range of news businesses across the country, including independent news businesses and those from Indigenous and official-language minority communities. Support for business incubators and accelerators in Quebec

Deadline: Wednesday, May 8, 2024

Business incubators and accelerators play a key role in the creation and development of young innovative businesses in Quebec. They support them at all stages of their development and act as levers for innovation to enable them to generate concrete economic impacts across Quebec. Training Fund for Sustainable Employment (FFED)

Deadline: Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 3pm EST

The Training Fund for Sustainable Employment (FFED) aims to support a range of training projects that will help workers upgrade or acquire new skills for jobs in the low carbon economy. The fund will focus on low carbon energy and carbon management, green buildings and retrofits, as well as electric vehicle servicing and charging infrastructure.

We’ll hold information sessions to give an overview of this application process. You can take part online or by teleconference.

Canada Arts Training Fund

Deadline: Sunday, June 30, 2024

The Canada Arts Training Fund (CATF) supports arts training in Canada. The CATF provides financial support for the operations of Canadian arts organizations that specialize in training artists for professional national or international artistic careers at the highest levels.

 

Green wood construction programme (CVBois)

Deadline: Sunday, June 30, 2024

The Green Wood Construction (GWCC) program encourages greater use of wood construction technologies in building projects. The program will seek to target innovative building solutions and schematic designs under key areas of interest including, but not limited to, prefabrication including modular buildings, retrofits, and design for disassembly/adaptability. The GCWood program hosted webinars in August (one in English and one in French) to provide information about the program’s application and evaluation process and to answer questions from applicants. Investments in Forest Industry Transformation (IFIT)

Deadline: Sunday, June 30, 2024

The IFIT program helps improve the environmental performance of the forestry sector by supporting demonstration and uptake projects that promote the decarbonization of industrial processes, as well as the efficient use of resources that produce more value from the same amount of wood. It continues to fund projects that produce renewable energy and sustainable bioproducts and seeks to invest in projects that integrate technologies leading to greater energy efficiency and explore bioenergy carbon capture in forest sector operations. The IFIT program hosted webinars in August (one in English and one in French) to provide information about the program’s application and evaluation process and to answer questions from applicants. Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund - Indigenous Grants Program

Deadline: Tuesday, December 31, 2024

The Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund (CMIF) will provide up to $1.5 billion in federal funding over seven years for clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects necessary to enable the sustainable development and expansion of critical minerals in Canada. The CMIF currently offers grants to support Indigenous engagement, participation and capacity building related to infrastructure projects that would enable critical minerals development.

 

Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVAI) - Indigenous-led projects pilot

Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2025

The Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVEI) supports projects that aim to increase awareness, knowledge and public confidence in zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and public charging and refueling infrastructure. The ZEVAI helps fund outreach, education, and capacity-building activities, ultimately enabling greater adoption of ZEVs by Canadians in all regions of the country. The Ingidenous-led projects pilot program supports Indigenous-led projects that aim to address awareness and knowledge gaps related to all types of ZEVs, lower-carbon medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, and clean fuels, such as clean hydrogen and biofuels.

 

Tourism Growth Program

Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 2026

The Tourism Growth Program is now open in Quebec, with a budget of $21.1 million. SMEs, NPOs and social economy enterprises active in the tourism industry can now apply to the program through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). CED’s support focuses on increasing the capacity of local tourist attractions to enhance their potential to attract visitors from outside Quebec by supporting the development of tourism products and experiences, in particular in rural and remote regions.

 

Green Freight Program - Stream 1 Assess and Retrofit

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2027

The Green Freight Program will help fleets reduce their fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through fleet energy assessments, fleet retrofits, engine repowers, logistical best-practice implementation and the purchase of low carbon vehicles. Stream 1 of the Program is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per Applicant towards Third-Party Fleet Energy Assessments and Truck/Trailer Equipment Retrofits. Natural Resources Canada has established a list of approved retrofit devices, of which a percentage of the cost will be eligible for a grant. This stream aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of the on-road freight transportation sector to adopt energy efficiency measures tailored to operational needs by providing financial support.

 

Indigenous Leadership Fund

Deadline: March 31, 2027

The Indigenous Leadership Fund is a new program under the Low Carbon Economy Fund. It provides up to $180 million by 2029 to support climate action by Indigenous peoples. The program will fund Indigenous-owned and led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon heating projects. Recognizing the unique rights, interests, and circumstances of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, communities, and organizations, the Indigenous Leadership Fund will use a distinctions-based approach to deliver funding to support projects that are Indigenous-owned and led, advance Indigenous climate leadership and support the self-determined climate, social, and economic priorities of Indigenous peoples. Foreign Credential Recognition Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Funding provided to governments, organizations and community groups for programs that contribute to the integration of newcomers and skilled migrant workers in their field of study or in a related field.

 

Department of National Defence Indigenous Reconciliation Program - Grants and contributions

Deadline: Funding submissions will be accepted as long as funds remain available for the fiscal year. A funding submission must be made by no later than March 1st of each fiscal year.

The Indigenous Reconciliation Program  provides funding for work that helps build and maintain relationships between Indigenous communities and the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF). Starting in fiscal year 2023-2024, up to $1.5 million in grants and contributions funding will be allocated each year through the Indigenous Reconciliation Program. This funding will be available for up to four years, ending in 2026-2027.

 

Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program (MARP) – Events

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Events component provides funding to community-based events that promote intercultural or interfaith understanding, promote discussions on multiculturalism, diversity, racism and religious discrimination, or celebrate a community's history and culture, such as heritage months recognized by Parliament. The Events component is actively seeking proposals that combat racism and discrimination; that provide opportunities for youth community engagement and involvement; and that build awareness and change attitudes. Severe Hate-Motivated Incident Support Stream (SHMIS)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Government of Canada is committed to protect the safety and security of Canadians. Organizations who become victim of a significant and direct hate-motivated crime against their facility may be eligible to receive prioritized federal funding from the Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP)through its Severe Hate-Motivated Incident Support (SHMIS) stream.

 

Sport Support Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Sport Support Program supports the development of the Canadian sport system. Funding is provided to eligible organizations that deliver programs that support the objectives of the Canadian Sport Policy.

 

Museum Assistance Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Museums Assistance Program (MAP) supports heritage institutions and workers in the preservation and presentation of heritage collections. The program fosters the preservation of Indigenous culture and facilitates access to heritage collections for all Canadians. It also promotes professional knowledge, skills and practices related to key museum functions. The MAP provides funding to Canadian museums and related institutions through several components, and each has its own eligibility criteria. 

 

Athlete Assistance Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Athlete Assistance Program - Canada.ca is a sport funding program that contributes to the pursuit of excellence. AAP support seeks to relieve some of the financial pressures associated with preparing for and participating in international sport and assists high-performance Canadian athletes to combine their sport and academic or working careers while training intensively in pursuit of world-class performances. 

 

Local Journalism Initiative

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Local Journalism Initiative supports the creation of original civic journalism that covers the diverse needs of underserved communities across Canada. Funding is available to eligible Canadian media organizations to hire journalists or pay freelance journalists to produce civic journalism for underserved communities.

 

Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Support Fund is designed to provide resources to facilitate access to justice in both official languages through various means, such as the creation of legal and linguistic tools, workshops and training to bilingual lawyers and stakeholders of the justice system, the development of related training material and the provision of public legal education and information. The activities and projects undertaken pursuant to the Support Fund are aligned with the Government commitments of encouraging the participation of all Canadians in linguistic duality, and in supporting official language minority communities. Movable Cultural Property Grants

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis
Movable Cultural Property Grants help designated organizations acquire cultural property of outstanding significance and national importance to Canada, as outlined in the Cultural Property Export and Import Act. Designated organizations are located in Canada and demonstrate the ability to ensure the long-term preservation of cultural property. Grants can be used to purchase cultural property for which an export permit has been denied or that is important to Canada’s national heritage and available for purchase outside the country.

 

Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit (CPTC) provides eligible productions with a fully refundable tax credit equal to 25% of eligible labor expenditures. Jointly administered by the Canadian Audio-Visual Certification Office (CAVCO) and the Canada Revenue Agency, the CPTC encourages the creation of Canadian film and video productions and the growth of Canada's independent film and video sector.

 

Economic Development Initiative – Official Languages

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The aim of this funding is to foster the economic development of official language minority communities (OLMCs). The funding may serve to kickstart innovative or entrepreneurial projects, solidify partnerships or diversify economic activities in these communities. Support for Regional Quantum Innovation

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Canada Economic Development's support for regional quantum innovation (RQI) aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and non-profit organizations (NPOs) adopt, develop and commercialize quantum technologies and products based on these technologies. It makes it possible to position SMEs and NPOs, in addition to the Quebec organizations that support them, in this emerging sector and strengthen Canada’s global leadership in the quantum sector. Business scale-up and productivity

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding, which aims to foster innovation and business growth, can be awarded at any stage of a business’s development. Projects submitted by SMEs or NPOs are funded for fostering expansion, productivity and growth through innovation. This funding is provided under the REGI program. Main sectors that are eligible are manufacturing, food processing, information, communications and multimedia technologies and life sciences. Diversify your Economy

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding aims to promote the regions and foster the development of local economies. Specifically, it is intended to help boost spending by tourists from outside Quebec; increase the presence of international organizations; strengthen economic activity in the regions by supporting local business projects; and generate investments and economic spin-offs through the acquisition of community economic facilities. Regional Innovation Ecosystems

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This stream targets NPO projects that help create an innovation-friendly entrepreneurial environment that fosters the growth and productivity of businesses in a given region. The funding is provided under the REGI program. To be eligible, projects must meet one of the following objectives: foster closer ties among the players in the various ecosystems; foster the creation, growth and maintenance of regional clusters or attract foreign investment. Main sectors that are eligible: manufacturing, food processing, information and communications technologies and life sciences. Other sectors may also be eligible. Canada Cultural Spaces Fund

Deadline: Applications examined on an ongoing basis

The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (CCSF) helps improve physical conditions for innovation in the arts, heritage and creative communities. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects as well as the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces. Potential applicants are asked to contact a CCSF advisor at the nearest Canadian Heritage regional office before submitting an application.

 

Black Community Entrepreneurship Loan Fund

Deadline: Applications examined on an ongoing basis

The Black Community Entrepreneurship Loan Fund is a partnership between the Government of Canada, Black-led business organizations, the Business Development Bank of Canada and other financial institutions. It will provide loans of up to $250,000 to Black business owners and entrepreneurs across the country. The Government of Canada has announced that the Black Community Entrepreneurship Loan Fund is accepting loan applications from Black business owners and entrepreneurs through the Canadian African Economic Federation (FACE). Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

As part of the Government of Canada’s strengthened climate plan, A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy, the new Agricultural Clean Technology Program aims to create an enabling environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that will help drive the changes required to achieve a low-carbon economy and promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. The Research and Innovation Stream will support pre-market innovation, including research, development, demonstration and commercialization activities, to develop transformative clean technologies and enable the expansion of current technologies, in three priority areas: green energy and energy efficiency, precision agriculture, bioeconomy.

 

Rural Transit Solutions Fund - 2nd Phase

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Rural Transit Solutions Fund supports the development and expansion of locally driven transit solutions to benefit people living in rural, remote, Indigenous, and Northern communities. Eligible applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $3 million for conventional solutions (e.g., vehicle or software) or up to $5 million for zero-emissions transit solutions. Applications to the Rural Transit Solutions Fund’s capital stream will be accepted via the online portal. Infrastructure Canada will provide notification on its website in advance of the closure of the application intake. Canada Small Business Financing Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Changes have been made to the Canada Small Business Financing Program  that cut red tape for small business and increase their access to financing. The changes include expanding financing eligibility to cover intangible assets, such as new product trademarks or software upgrades; increasing maximum loan amounts to 1,15 million dollars; extending government coverage periods for equipment and leasehold improvements; and introducing a line of credit option of up to $150,000.

 

Affordable Housing Innovation Fund

The Affordable Housing Innovation Fund  supports new ideas that will drive change and disrupt the industry – ideas and approaches that will evolve the affordable housing sector and create the next generation of housing in Canada. You can get funding for your innovations to:

Preservation Funding for community housing

Deadline : Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Preservation Funding for community housing  is a financial assistance to help community housing providers complete preservation activities related to the sustainability of existing community housing projects. The maximum Preservation Funding available per project to complete eligible activities is $50,000.

 

Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)  is funding to build and repair shelters and housing for people who are fleeing domestic violence. This program is open to all First Nations or First Nation housing organizations that operate housing for people fleeing domestic violence. The Net-Zero Challenge for Businesses

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis
The government announced the launch of the Net-Zero Challenge, a new national voluntary initiative for businesses operating in Canada. Businesses that join the Challenge commit to developing and implementing credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. Companies will benefit from technical guidance, best practices, a community of peer businesses and the opportunity to highlight their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. The Net-Zero Challenge also includes various participation tiers to encourage ambition and track progress in net-zero planning.

 

The Canada Digital Adoption Program

Determined to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize their full potential by adopting digital technologies, the Government of Canada has launched the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). CDAP comprises two separate funding components:

 

National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada announced that up to $50 million would be dedicated to building housing for Black communities.  Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations, up to 40% targeted funding for new affordable housing for Black households will be available. This program is designed to help Black-led organizations build housing and increase the supply of affordable housing for Black communities in Canada. The Fund prioritizes partnerships between Black-led organizations and other partners such as governments, non-profit organizations and other similar groups.

 

Energy Innovation Programme - Call for proposals for the measurement and mitigation of methane emissions

Status: open to declarations of interest

In support of Canada’s Methane Centre of Excellence, the Energy Innovation Program’s Methane Measurement and Mitigation Call responds to the urgent need to reduce methane emissions in this decade, alongside deep cuts in CO2, to achieve the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global temperature increases to 1.5oC above pre-industrial levels. It will invest in Canadian expertise to accelerate development of more effective knowledge and technologies for methane measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV), as well as the mitigation or elimination of methane emissions in Canada.

 

Creative Export Canada

Deadline : Launch in winter 2024

The Creative Export Canada program provides visibility and financing to promote the financial success of Canadian works abroad. CEC aims to encourage the discovery of Canadian works in foreign markets and to increase the profitability of Canada's creative industries. The next cohort is scheduled for winter 2024 (launch and deadline dates to be confirmed), for projects with expenditures beginning between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.

Implementation Framework for a Right to a Healthy Environment in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999

A discussion paper on the Framework for Implementing the Right to a Healthy Environment under Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA) was released on February 8, 2024. Consultation to co-develop an Indigenous broadcasting policy

Youth Exchanges Canada

The Exchanges Canada Program helps youth to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the country, while connecting with other youth in Canada. Youth Exchanges Canada supports a number of Canadian organizations in offering reciprocal exchanges for individual youth or groups of youth, generally between the ages of 12 and 17.
