Of note : the 2022 pre-budget consultations are open until Friday, February 25. Our office will hold pre-budget consultations similar to last year. We’ll notify you of the dates early next week.

Round 3, the Northern Access Round, of the Housing Supply Challenge

*The call for proposal will open in February 2022

Round 3 of the Housing Supply Challenge will open in February 2022. The government will invest up to $80M in funding for teams who put forward solutions that can improve Canada’s housing supply chain in northern and remote regions. Northern and remote areas see high costs to build and maintain housing due to high transportation costshigh investment riskslong timelines and limited access to resources and infrastructure.

Oceans Management Contribution Program Deadline : Friday, February 11, 2022 at 6 pm (EST)

The Government of Canada is committed to conserving 25% of Canada’s oceans by 2025, working towards 30% by 2030. The Oceans Management Contribution Program provides funding opportunities to eligible applicants to support marine conservation initiatives in the community, with an emphasis on outreach, monitoring and stewardship, and capacity building initiatives. https://www.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/oceans/funding-financement/management-gestion/index-eng.html

2 Billion Trees Program

Deadline: Thursday, February 17, 2022

The government opened the second application period and the call for applications for the 2 billion tree planting program. Tree Planting Grants are divided into three components: Mass Tree Planting (minimum 500,000 trees per year), Small Scale Planting (minimum 50,000 trees per year), and Urban and Peri-Urban Planting (minimum 10,000 trees per year). All three are accessible to Indigenous communities and organizations, as well as for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. The Government of Canada has committed $200 million to establish the Black-led Philanthropic Endowment Fund to support Black-led charities and organizations that support youth and social initiatives. The Fund, which will be run by Black Canadians for Black Canadians, will create a sustainable source of funding to improve social and economic outcomes in Black communities. The Government of Canada is seeking your input on how it could design the Endowment Fund with a "nothing about us without us" approach. Black-led nonprofit organizations and charities, as well as other interested Canadians, are invited to participate in this call for concepts.

For more information, visit  : https://www.canada.ca/en/canadian-heritage/campaigns/ideas-black-led-philanthropic-fund.html Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund Deadline : Friday, March 4, 2022 The Government of Canada announced the launch of the Canada Performing Arts Workers Resilience Fund, a new temporary funding program that will provide $60 million to help workers in the live performance sector. It will finance initiatives led and delivered by organizations in the sector to directly support independent and self-employed workers (gig workers) in the live performance sector. This funding opportunity is available to eligible applicants such as artist unions, guilds, associations, service organizations, benevolent foundations, or Indigenous organizations that are mandated to represent the interests of cultural workers in live performance occupations, including musicians, actors, directors, choreographers, designers and technicians.

Canada’s Volunteer Awards 2021 Deadline : Friday, March 4, 2022 Now is the time to nominate an outstanding individual, a not-for-profit organization, a social enterprise or a socially responsible business who has made a significant contribution in improving the lives of others in their community through volunteering. Help them get the recognition they deserve. 

Canada’s Volunteer Awards is a federal recognition program under the Department of Employment and Social Development Canada. In total, twenty-one awards will be presented, including one national award, the Thérèse Casgrain Lifelong Achievement award. This award recognizes individuals who demonstrate exceptional achievements through volunteering for at least 20 years. The 20 regional awards are distributed in the following four categories across five regions:

Skills for Success Program - Research and Innovation Stream Deadline : Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 3pm The Government of Canada has launched a call for proposals under the Skills for Success (SFS) program to fund organizations that will help Canadians at all skill levels improve their foundational and transferable skills to better prepare for, get and keep a job, and adapt and succeed at work.

Increasing the Capacity of Indigenous Women and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Organizations to address Gender Based Violence Deadline: Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Noon Pacific Time

The Government of Canada has issued a call for proposals for Aboriginal non-profit organizations with experience in addressing gender-based violence issues. Projects funded will build their capacity to prevent or respond to gender-based violence against Aboriginal women, girls and 2ELGBTQIA+ people. Women Entrepreneurship Strategy's Ecosystem Fund

Deadline: Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 12:00 Pacific time

Under a new call for proposals, $25 million is being allocated to support new projects that address systemic barriers and gaps for women from diversity or intersectionality and under-served. The expected results of the project will help improve the participation of women entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds in the economy by supporting initiatives that enable them to access services tailored to their unique needs, context and experiences. Grants and Contributions Program to National Voluntary Organizations – Public Safety Canada Deadline : Friday, March 18, 2022 To help more Canadians benefit from record suspensions and move on with their lives, the government of Canada announced new support for organizations that assist in obtaining suspensions. This call for applications for a new contribution stream within the Grants and Contributions Program to National Voluntary Organizations involves federal funding of $18 million over the next four years, which will go to organizations active in corrections, conditional release and community reintegration.

Low Carbon Economy Challenge

Deadline : Friday, March 25, 2022, at 08:00 p.m.

The Government of Canada has launched the second round of applications for a $200 million fund for climate change initiatives under the Champions Component of its Low Carbon Economy Fund. Expressions of interest are now being accepted for this second round of applications to the Champions Component. Applicants may request funding between $1 million and $25 million for eligible project expenses, with cost-sharing ranging from 25% to 75% of total project costs, depending on the type of recipient. Active Transportation Fund Deadline : Thursday, March 31, 2022

The Government of Canada is launching the first-ever Active Transportation Fund to provide $400 million over five years to encourage a modal shift from cars to active transportation in support of Canada's National Active Transportation Strategy. The Active Transportation Fund is open to eligible applicants who wish to contribute to the construction and expansion of trail networks, bike lanes, pedestrian trails and bridges, as well as support active transportation planning and stakeholder engagement activities. Sport Support Program - Community Sport for All Initiative Deadline : Monday, April 4, 2022 The Government of Canada launched the Community Sport for All Initiative, a component of the Sport Support Program. The initiative seeks to remove barriers and increase sport participation rates, particularly among Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQQIA+, low-income and newcomer communities. Canadian organizations with the capacity to reach equity-deserving groups in multiple provinces or territories are invited to submit a proposal.

The Government of Canada has committed to reducing its overall greenhouse gas emissions by 40-45% from 2005 levels and to reducing methane emissions by 30% as part of its commitment to the Global Methane Commitment. Determined to meet its 2030 targets, the government is launching two consultation processes with the public and stakeholders.

 

The public is invited to comment until Friday February 18, 2022, on a Draft Federal Offset Protocol: Landfill Methane Recovery and Destruction , which would be implemented under Canada's Offset System for Greenhouse Gases Regulations. The Canada Revenue Agency wants to improve and expand the virtual tax clinics of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, to meet the needs of community organizations, volunteers, and Canadians.
