Hi,  We wish to inform you of the following federal calls for proposals, consultations, and appointment opportunities that are currently open.

CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund

Deadline: Monday, November 14, 2022

Veterans Affairs Canada launched the latest call for applications for the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund. In communities across the country, there are organizations developing new and innovative ways to improve the well-being of our Veterans and their families. Funding is available to organizations from the public, private, or academic sectors doing research and implementing these projects and initiatives.

Since 2018, the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund has provided organizations doing this vitally important work with funding to conduct research on areas such as Veterans facing homelessness, mental health, and the transition to life after service. Applications can be accessed through this link.

 

Indigenous-Led Area-Based Conservation

Deadline: Monday, November 14 at 11:59p.m. (PST)

The government is now accepting expressions of interest for up to $40 million in Indigenous-led area-based conservation funding. The Indigenous-led area-based conservation program provides funding to Indigenous Peoples to lead or co-lead projects to establish and recognize protected areas. This includes other effective area-based conservation measures across Canada, such as Indigenous Protected and Conserved Areas that can contribute to Canada’s conservation targets. The call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) opened on September 22, 2022. As of September 22, 2022, EOI forms and guidance documents will be available upon request from [email protected]. Clean Fuels Fund – Establishing Biomass Supply Chains Deadline: Wednesday, November 23, 2022

The government has launched a call for project proposals to support the establishment of biomass supply chains to ensure that a steady and usable supply of sustainable feedstock is available to clean fuel production facilities across the country. As a component of the Clean Fuels Fund, this dedicated biomass call includes three project streams. Each stream includes separate eligibility criteria and different submission timelines, funding levels and contribution repayment requirements. Projects could receive up to 50 percent of eligible costs to a maximum of $5 million in funding. Please email the program to request the Applicant Guide for more details.

Funding to implement the Black-Led Philanthropic Endowment Fund

Deadline: Friday, November 25, 2022 at 12 pm (noon)

The Black-Led Philanthropic Endowment Fund  seeks to create a sustainable source of funding for Black-led, Black-focused and Black-serving non-profit organizations and registered charities. Through it, the Government of Canada will provide 1 national Black-led and Black-serving recipient organization with an endowment of $199,476,227. This organization will be responsible for investing the endowment. The investment income will provide funding to Black-led, Black-focused and Black-serving non-profit organizations and registered charities across the country. It will apply a Black-centric and intersectional lens to its operations and granting strategy to ensure that they reflect and benefit the full diversity of Black communities.

 

Affordable Housing Innovation Fund

The Affordable Housing Innovation Fund   supports new ideas that will drive change and disrupt the industry – ideas and approaches that will evolve the affordable housing sector and create the next generation of housing in Canada.

Preservation Funding for community housing

Deadline : Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Preservation Funding for community housing  is a financial assistance to help community housing providers complete preservation activities related to the sustainability of existing community housing projects. The maximum Preservation Funding available per project to complete eligible activities is $50,000.

 

Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)  is funding to build and repair shelters and housing for people who are fleeing domestic violence. This program is open to all First Nations or First Nation housing organizations that operate housing for people fleeing domestic violence. For more information about this program, please contact your First Nation Housing Specialist.

 

Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis until March 2024

The Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative supports the construction of a minimum of 38 shelters and 50 transitional homes across Canada. Indigenous organizations and governments across Canada are eligible to apply.

 

Green and Inclusive Community Buildings

Deadline : On an ongoing basis for projects under $3 million; a second call for proposals will be launched for projects of more than $3 million An investment of $1.5 billion over five years through the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program will improve the condition and availability of community buildings. This program supports the renovation, repair, and modernization of existing public community buildings, as well as the construction of new public community buildings. Municipalities and NPOs are eligible for this program. To be considered eligible, the building must belong to the applicant and be used by citizens. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for projects under $3 million (small and medium-sized renovation projects) and a second call for proposals will be launched for projects of more than $3 million (major renovations), we will keep you updated. Infrastructure Canada - Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program

The Net-Zero Challenge for Businesses The government announced the launch of the Net-Zero Challenge, a new national voluntary initiative for businesses operating in Canada. Businesses that join the Challenge commit to developing and implementing credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. Companies will benefit from technical guidance, best practices, a community of peer businesses and the opportunity to highlight their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. The Net-Zero Challenge also includes various participation tiers to encourage ambition and track progress in net-zero planning.

 

The Canada Digital Adoption Program

Determined to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize their full potential by adopting digital technologies, the Government of Canada has launched the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). CDAP comprises two separate funding components:

National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada announced that up to $50 million would be dedicated to building housing for Black communities.  Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations, up to 40% targeted funding for new affordable housing for Black households will be available. This program is designed to help Black-led organizations build housing and increase the supply of affordable housing for Black communities in Canada. The Fund prioritizes partnerships between Black-led organizations and other partners such as governments, non-profit organizations and other similar groups.

 

Pathways to Safe Indigenous Communities Initiative 

There is no deadline for this funding

The Pathways to Safe Indigenous Communities Initiative will provide $103.8 million over 5 years to assist First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities and partners, both on and off reserve, to implement Indigenous-designed projects to improve community safety and well-being. Legislative Review of the Cannabis Act

Deadline: Monday, November 21st, 2022

The government announced the launch of the legislative review of the Cannabis Act. The review will focus on the health and cannabis consumption habits of youth, the impact of cannabis on Indigenous people and communities and the impact of cultivation of plants in housing. All Canadians are invited to provide feedback on Taking Stock of Progress: Cannabis Legalization and Regulation in Canada through an online questionnaire or written feedback. First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples are additionally invited to provide feedback on the Summary from Engagement with First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. The Parliamentary Black Caucus Pre-Budget Consultation for the 2023 Budget Deadline: Monday, November 21st, 2022 at 5pm The Parliamentary Black Caucus is pleased to announce the launch of the pre-budget consultation for the 2023 budget. Since its creation a few years ago, the Parliamentary Black Caucus has sought to be an amplifier of the voices and the priorities of Black Canadians. This pre-budget consultation presents an important opportunity for Black stakeholders to share their needs and priorities as the government makes important decisions about Canada’s fiscal direction. Consultations to modernize Canada’s New Substances Notification Regulations (Organisms)

Deadline: Monday, December 5, 2022

The government launched consultations to help determine how the New Substances Notification Regulations (Organisms) can better protect human health and the environment through increasing openness and transparency in the risk assessment and regulatory decision-making process, all while enabling innovations in biotechnology that benefit Canadians. This consultation is hosted on PlaceSpeak, an online platform that will help the Government of Canada reach a broad range of stakeholders and interested parties, including biotechnology companies, environmental non-governmental organizations, and Indigenous communities. Interested parties can provide feedback on regulatory, non-regulatory, and scientific issues associated with the Regulations on PlaceSpeak, or by email at [email protected].

 

Consultations to improve the collective bargaining process

Deadline: Friday, December 16, 2022

The Government is committed to introducing legislation by the end of 2023 to prohibit the use of replacement workers in federally regulated workplaces during a strike or lockout. Therefore, the government launched consultations to hear from Canadians and stakeholders on this commitment. The Government is also taking advantage of this opportunity to hear from stakeholders and Canadians on improving the maintenance of activities process, about which stakeholders have raised concerns. As a part of the consultation, the Government is looking for input on various elements, such as:

Employers, employer representatives, unions, workers, national Indigenous organizations and other key stakeholders and interested parties are invited to share their feedback on prohibiting the use of replacement workers and improving the maintenance of activities process.

 

Co-developing distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation The Government of Canada, in collaboration with Indigenous partners and the provinces and territories, is developing new distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation to facilitate access to high quality, culturally appropriate health services. House of Commons Page Program
