Call for Concept Notes – Strengthening Civil Society and Democratic Spaces in the Indo-Pacific 2024-2028

Deadline: Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 12:00pm (noon)

The “Strengthening Civil Society and Democratic Spaces in the Indo-Pacific” Call is a 2-stage application process contributing to Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy. As a first step, eligible organizations are invited to submit Concept Notes that describe projects that will address the objectives of this Call. At the second stage, a limited number of organizations will be invited to submit a full proposal. The total amount of funding available under the Strengthening Civil Society and Democratic Spaces in the Indo-Pacific 2024-2028 Call is up to $30 million over 4 years. Global Affairs Canada (GAC) may fund 8 to 10 proposals or none, up to the maximum funding available. Digital Citizen Contribution Program

Deadline: Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 11:59pm

The Digital Citizen Contribution Program supports the priorities of the Digital Citizen Initiative by providing time-limited financial assistance for research and citizen-focused activities. The Program aims to support democracy and social inclusion in Canada by enhancing and/or supporting efforts to counter online disinformation and other online harms and threats. Under this call for proposals, the Program is offering successful recipients up to $380,000 per approved project. Canada Periodical Fund – Magazines – Aid to Publishers

The Canada Periodical Fund provides financial support to Canadian print magazines, print community newspapers and digital periodicals, to enable them to overcome market disadvantages. The Fund ensures Canadians have access to diverse Canadian editorial content in print magazines, print community newspapers and digital periodicals. The Aid to Publishers component is designed to provide eligible Canadian publishers of print magazines, print community newspapers and digital periodicals with the financial support they need to produce and distribute high-quality, Canadian editorial content for Canadian readers. Canada Cultural Investment Fund - Endowment Incentives

Deadline: Friday, December 1st, 2023

Canada Cultural Investment Fund – Endowment Incentives component encourages private donors to contribute to endowment funds for not-for-profit professional arts organizations, so they can access new sources of funding in the future. Raising capital and creating endowments gives these organizations greater capacity for realizing artistic expression by supporting their long-term stability. Canadians are encouraged to support the arts by providing donations to an arts organization's endowment fund. The government provides matching funds – of up to one dollar for every dollar raised from private donors – to create endowment funds or to increase existing ones. Environmental Damages Fund

The Environmental Damages Fund (EDF) has opened a Call for Proposals (CFP). Funding is available for projects that will reduce transportation-related air pollution in the province of Quebec. The purpose of the EDF is to fund projects that restore damage to the natural environment and support wildlife conservation, in a cost-effective way. Community Support and Healing for Families Initiative

Deadline: Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:59am

The Community Support and Healing for Families (CSHF) Initiative has supported Indigenous community organizations across Canada to design and deliver culturally grounded, community-based initiatives and activities that provide direct support and assistance to family members of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Plus (2SLGBTQI+) people, specifically to assist them with the grief and trauma of their loss. Projects are designed to meet the unique needs of the community in which the organization is located and/or the clients they provide services for, by ensuring culturally responsive services that are trauma-informed and grounded in, or informed by, the various cultures of the families they seek to support. Enabling Accessibility Fund – Mid-sized projects

Deadline: Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 5:00pm

As part of this year’s EAF mid-sized Call for Proposals, between $500,000 and $3 million is available to support construction, renovation and retrofitting of projects across Canada which are aimed at improving accessibility and safety in communities and workplaces for persons with disabilities.

Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities Program

Deadline: Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:59pm

The Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities (CRCC) Program will provide funding to enable communities and sectors to work together at a regional scale to co-develop coordinated actions that increase climate resilience in coastal regions. The CRCC received $41 million under the Government of Canada Adaptation Action Plan, which accompanied the release of the National Adaptation Strategy. Natural Resources Canada’s Climate-Resilient Coastal Communities Program (2023 to 2028) will fund up to 25 pilot projects that accelerate adaptation at a regional scale through integrated, inclusive, and innovative actions. Up to a total of $30 million in contribution funding may be awarded for pilot projects starting April 1, 2024, and concluding on or before December 31, 2027. The Government of Canada may fund up to 75% of the total eligible project costs, with the exception of Indigenous-led projects and those led by Territorial governments, where Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) may fund up to 100% of the total project costs. Supporting Black Canadian Communities Initiative – National Funders program

Deadline: Friday, December 15, 2023, at 23:59pm

Through this call for proposals, registered non-profit organizations that are Black-led and that serve the Black community can apply for up to $105,000 in funding across two streams: Capital Assistance and Capacity Building, to help Black-led organizations to increase their organizational capacity and improve their workplaces and community spaces as needed to better serve Black Canadian communities. Canada Service Corps Program
Deadline: Tuesday, December 19, 2023

The Government of Canada is launching a Call for Proposals (CFP) under the Canada Service Corps program. Canada Service Corps is a Grants & Contributions program that promotes civic engagement among young people aged 15 to 30 years old, while exploring ways to reach youth as young as 12 years of age, with a particular focus on youth from Indigenous and under-served communities. Social Development Partnerships Program – Disability Component

Deadline: Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 5:00 pm

The Government of Canada recently launched the Capacity Development Call for Proposals (CFP) under the Social Development Partnerships Program - Canada.ca (SPP-D) for Capacity Development Themed Projects. The Disability component of the Social Development Partnerships Program supports projects intended to improve the participation and integration of people with disabilities in all aspects of Canadian society with respect to social inclusion. Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) wage subsidy

Deadline: Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:59pm

If you know of an organization that is planning to hire youth between the ages of 15 and 30 next summer, you can encourage them to apply for funding under CSJ. The CSJ program provides wage subsidies to not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees. Sustainable Development Goals Program – Grants Stream

Deadline: Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:59pm

The Grants stream of this Call for Proposals (CFP) will fund projects that increase public awareness, share best practices or lessons learned that support and enhance Canada’s progress on the 2030 Agenda particularly within equity-deserving groups and groups or individuals in vulnerable situations. Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage - Local Festivals

Deadlines:

Building Communities through Arts and Heritage — Local Festivals component provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists; local artisans; local heritage performers or specialists; and local First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural carriers. This includes the celebration of LGBTQ2+ communities and Indigenous cultural celebrations. The Expanded Security Infrastructure Program (SIP)

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2024 at 23h59pm

The Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP) provides time-limited funding and support for communities at risk of hate-motivated incidents/crime to enhance security measures at their gathering spaces. All projects supported through the expanded SIP must be completed and all funding spent by March 31, 2024. Applications for funding will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Low Carbon Economy Challenge

The Low Carbon Economy Challenge (the Challenge Fund) leverages Canadian ingenuity to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and generate clean growth. The Challenge Fund continues to support a wide range of Canadian recipients to implement projects that deploy proven, low-carbon technologies resulting in material GHG emissions reductions across sectors, focusing on its cost-effectiveness objective to maximize GHG emissions reductions. Green Freight Program - Stream 1 Assess and Retrofit

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2027

The Green Freight Program will help fleets reduce their fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through fleet energy assessments, fleet retrofits, engine repowers, logistical best-practice implementation and the purchase of low carbon vehicles. Stream 1 of the Program is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per Applicant towards Third-Party Fleet Energy Assessments and Truck/Trailer Equipment Retrofits. Natural Resources Canada has established a list of approved retrofit devices, of which a percentage of the cost will be eligible for a grant. This stream aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of the on-road freight transportation sector to adopt energy efficiency measures tailored to operational needs by providing financial support.

 

Indigenous Leardership Fund

Deadline: March 31, 2027

The Indigenous Leadership Fund is a new program under the Low Carbon Economy Fund. It provides up to $180 million by 2029 to support climate action by Indigenous peoples. The program will fund Indigenous-owned and led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon heating projects. Recognizing the unique rights, interests, and circumstances of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, communities, and organizations, the Indigenous Leadership Fund will use a distinctions-based approach to deliver funding to support projects that are Indigenous-owned and led, advance Indigenous climate leadership and support the self-determined climate, social, and economic priorities of Indigenous peoples. Department of National Defence Indigenous Reconciliation Program - Grants and contributions

Deadline: Funding submissions will be accepted as long as funds remain available for the fiscal year. A funding submission must be made by no later than March 1st of each fiscal year.

The Indigenous Reconciliation Program  provides funding for work that helps build and maintain relationships between Indigenous communities and the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF). Starting in fiscal year 2023-2024, up to $1.5 million in grants and contributions funding will be allocated each year through the Indigenous Reconciliation Program. This funding will be available for up to four years, ending in 2026-2027.

 

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

As part of the Government of Canada’s strengthened climate plan, A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy, the new Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program aims to create an enabling environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that will help drive the changes required to achieve a low-carbon economy and promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. The Research and Innovation Stream will support pre-market innovation, including research, development, demonstration and commercialization activities, to develop transformative clean technologies and enable the expansion of current technologies, in 3 priority areas: green energy and energy efficiency, precision agriculture, bioeconomy. Eligible activities under the Research and Innovation Stream are of the following nature and type: applied research and development of clean technologies, piloting and evaluating clean technologies, demonstration and knowledge and technology transfer activities, commercializing and scaling up clean technologies; other activities that support the Research and Innovation Stream as determined by the program. Rural Transit Solutions Fund - 2nd Phase

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The government announced the launch of the second capital intake of the Rural Transit Solutions Fund (RTSF). RTSF supports the development and expansion of locally driven transit solutions to benefit people living in rural, remote, Indigenous, and Northern communities, helping individuals in communities do their day-to-day activities like going to work, school, appointments, and visiting loved ones. Eligible applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $3 million for conventional solutions (e.g., vehicle or software) or up to $5 million for zero-emissions transit solutions. Applications to the Rural Transit Solutions Fund’s capital stream will be accepted via the online portal. Infrastructure Canada will provide notification on its website in advance of the closure of the application intake. Applicants are encouraged to review the information in the applicant guide and follow the Step-by-Step Guide to completing the application. Support for Regional Quantum Innovation

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Canada Economic Development's support for regional quantum innovation (RQI) aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and non-profit organizations (NPOs) adopt, develop and commercialize quantum technologies and products based on these technologies. It makes it possible to position SMEs and NPOs, in addition to the Quebec organizations that support them, in this emerging sector and strengthen Canada’s global leadership in the quantum sector. Business scale-up and productivity

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding, which aims to foster innovation and business growth, can be awarded at any stage of a business’s development. Projects submitted by SMEs or NPOs are funded for fostering expansion, productivity and growth through innovation. This funding is provided under the REGI program. Main sectors that are eligible are manufacturing, food processing, information, communications and multimedia technologies and life sciences. Other sectors may also be eligible. Diversify your economy

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding aims to promote the regions and foster the development of local economies. Specifically, it is intended to help boost spending by tourists from outside Quebec; increase the presence of international organizations; strengthen economic activity in the regions by supporting local business projects; and generate investments and economic spin-offs through the acquisition of community economic facilities. Regional Innovation Ecosystems

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This stream targets NPO projects that help create an innovation-friendly entrepreneurial environment that fosters the growth and productivity of businesses in a given region. The funding is provided under the REGI program. To be eligible, projects must meet one of the following objectives: foster closer ties among the players in the various ecosystems; foster the creation, growth and maintenance of regional clusters or attract foreign investment. Main sectors that are eligible: manufacturing, food processing, information and communications technologies and life sciences. Other sectors may also be eligible. Economic Development Initiative – Official Languages

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The aim of this funding is to foster the economic development of official language minority communities (OLMCs). The funding may serve to kickstart innovative or entrepreneurial projects, solidify partnerships or diversify economic activities in these communities. Canada Small Business Financing Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Changes have been made to the Canada Small Business Financing Program  that cut red tape for small business and increase their access to financing. The changes include expanding financing eligibility to cover intangible assets, such as new product trademarks or software upgrades; increasing maximum loan amounts to 1,15 million dollars; extending government coverage periods for equipment and leasehold improvements; and introducing a line of credit option of up to $150,000.

 

 

Affordable Housing Innovation Fund

The Affordable Housing Innovation Fund  supports new ideas that will drive change and disrupt the industry – ideas and approaches that will evolve the affordable housing sector and create the next generation of housing in Canada. You can get funding for your innovations to:

Preservation Funding for community housing

Deadline : Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Preservation Funding for community housing  is a financial assistance to help community housing providers complete preservation activities related to the sustainability of existing community housing projects. The maximum Preservation Funding available per project to complete eligible activities is $50,000.

 

Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)  is funding to build and repair shelters and housing for people who are fleeing domestic violence. This program is open to all First Nations or First Nation housing organizations that operate housing for people fleeing domestic violence. Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis until March 2024

The Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative supports the construction of a minimum of 38 shelters and 50 transitional homes across Canada. Indigenous organizations and governments across Canada are eligible to apply.


The Net-Zero Challenge for Businesses
The government announced the launch of the Net-Zero Challenge, a new national voluntary initiative for businesses operating in Canada. Businesses that join the Challenge commit to developing and implementing credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. Companies will benefit from technical guidance, best practices, a community of peer businesses and the opportunity to highlight their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. The Net-Zero Challenge also includes various participation tiers to encourage ambition and track progress in net-zero planning.

 

The Canada Digital Adoption Program

Determined to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize their full potential by adopting digital technologies, the Government of Canada has launched the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). CDAP comprises two separate funding components:


National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada announced that up to $50 million would be dedicated to building housing for Black communities.  Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations, up to 40% targeted funding for new affordable housing for Black households will be available. This program is designed to help Black-led organizations build housing and increase the supply of affordable housing for Black communities in Canada. The Fund prioritizes partnerships between Black-led organizations and other partners such as governments, non-profit organizations and other similar groups.

Coming up : Tourism Growth Program

The program will support Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, small and medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organizations in developing local, community-level tourism products and experiences to help more domestic and international visitors discover all that Canada has to offer. Funding through the Tourism Growth Program is available to a range of tourism businesses and organizations across Canada, and the maximum contribution amount to a project is $250,000. Consultation on Copyright in the Age of Generative Artificial Intelligence
Deadline: Monday, December 4, 2023

In light of new technological advances, and particularly the rapid development of new generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT, the Government of Canada has launched a public consultation to gather the views of the public and stakeholders on important issues. These issues were first addressed in 2021, during the Consultation on a Modern Copyright Framework for Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things. Art Market Survey

Deadline: Thursday, December 7, 2023

The Government of Canada is working toward implementing an Artist’s Resale Right (ARR). The objective of the survey is to gather market data to better understand Canada’s art market. Resale rights for artists would benefit visual artists and their heirs when their work is resold. The full value of a work of art is often not realized at the first sale, resale rights would allow visual artists to be rewarded as their career progresses and their reputation grows. Next Agricultural Policy Framework

Deadline: Sunday, December 31, 2023

The Next Policy Framework (NPF) is a five-year (2023–2028) investment by federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) governments to strengthen and grow Canada's agriculture and agri-food sector. It will replace the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP), which ends March 31, 2023. The government wants to consult Canadians, including stakeholders such as producers, processors, Indigenous communities, women in agriculture, youth, environmental organizations, and small and emerging sectors to develop the Framework. Initial consultations on the NPF will seek stakeholder feedback on both current and potential challenges and opportunities facing the sector and on prospective priorities and vision for the NPF.


Additional public consultations on measures to modernize Canada’s approach to countering foreign interference
Deadline : Friday, February 2, 2024
The government launched additional public consultations on measures to modernize Canada’s approach to countering foreign interference. Public consultation on the foreign influence transparency registry have recently concluded, and the results are now available. These additional consultations announced will focus on potential legislative amendments to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Act, the Criminal Code, the Security of Information Act and the Canada Evidence Act. Anyone living in Canada, or Canadians living abroad, are encouraged to share their views through the consultation webpage. Online submissions will be accepted until February 2, 2024. In addition, to the online public consultations, the government will also seek the input of experts, stakeholders, and community groups through roundtable discussions in the coming weeks and months. 

Market Basket Measure of poverty (2023-base) consultative engagement

Statistics Canada invites you to complete a short crowdsourcing survey to help validate how we measure poverty in Canada: Survey on the Market Basket Measure of Poverty. By selecting your province or territory, city, family size and housing tenure information, you can find out how much a family would need to spend in order to live above the poverty line in your community. The consultative engagement phase of the third comprehensive review of the MBM began with the publication of Launch of the Third Comprehensive Review of the Market Basket Measure. These consultative engagement activities will help inform decisions made to refine and update Canada's official poverty measure. By participating in this consultation, you will support Statistics Canada's ability to accurately measure poverty.

The Government of Canada, in collaboration with Indigenous partners and the provinces and territories, is developing new distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation to facilitate access to high quality, culturally appropriate health services. Parliamentary Guide Program

Guides are university students who deliver tours of Parliament to visitors, parliamentarians and dignitaries from around the world. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply: being a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, studying at a Canadian university and being bilingual in English and French.
