CALLS FOR PROPOSALS

 

Canada Service Corps Program
Deadline: Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 3pm

The Government of Canada is launching a Call for Proposals (CFP) under the Canada Service Corps program. Canada Service Corps is a Grants & Contributions program that promotes civic engagement among young people aged 15 to 30 years old, while exploring ways to reach youth as young as 12 years of age, with a particular focus on youth from Indigenous and under-served communities. The 2023 CFP will provide funding for organizations across the country to support the design and delivery of innovative volunteer programming that provides youth with meaningful ways to grow personal and professional networks, build essential skills and experiences. https://www.canada.ca/en/services/youth/canada-service-corps/call-proposal.html


Social Development Partnerships Program – Disability Component

Deadline: Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 5pm

The Government of Canada recently launched the Capacity Development Call for Proposals (CFP) under the Social Development Partnerships Program - Canada.ca (SPP-D) for Capacity Development Themed Projects. The Disability component of the Social Development Partnerships Program supports projects intended to improve the participation and integration of people with disabilities in all aspects of Canadian society with respect to social inclusion. There will be two funding streams under the Capacity Development CFP:

Stream 1: Organizational Capacity Development. This funding stream focuses on enhancing the organizational capacity of national disability organizations. 

Stream 2: Intersectional Capacity Development. The objective of this funding stream is to increase capacity of national disability organizations to address intersectional barriers to social inclusion for persons with disabilities.

 

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) wage subsidy

Deadline: Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:59pm

If you know of an organization that is planning to hire youth between the ages of 15 and 30 next summer, you can encourage them to apply for funding under CSJ. Sustainable Development Goals Program – Grants Stream

The Grants stream of this Call for Proposals (CFP) will fund projects that increase public awareness, share best practices or lessons learned that support and enhance Canada’s progress on the 2030 Agenda particularly within equity-deserving groups and groups or individuals in vulnerable situations. Youth Substance Use Prevention Program Stream 1: Incubator and Capacity Building

Deadline: Monday January 15, 2024 at 12:30pm

The Youth Substance Use Prevention Program has been launched by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC). Using a collaborative approach, it focuses on building protective factors that promote overall health and well-being, and prevent substance use harms among youth. Interested and eligible organizations can apply for grants to support eligible expenses by completing PHAC's Funding Request Form. Distress Line Equity Fund 2023-2024

Deadline: Monday January 22, 2024 at 3:00pm

Crisis lines are a component of a public health approach that aims to reduce an individual’s crisis state, emotional distress, and risk of suicide. They may also provide access to other suicide prevention and mental health resources, tools, and services. Through this time-limited funding opportunity, PHAC aims to support eligible distress lines and centres that provide crisis services to help address distress line sector gaps in equity, diversity, and inclusion. Listen, Hear Our Voices - Digitizing existing documentary heritage related to Indigenous languages and cultures

Library and Archives Canada is providing funding to support Indigenous nations, governments and non-profit organizations in digitizing existing documentary heritage related to Indigenous languages and cultures or building the skills, knowledge and resources needed to digitize and preserve documentary heritage related to Indigenous languages and cultures. Indigenous Partnership Fund

Deadline: Tuesday January 30, 2024 at 23:59pm Pacific Time

The Indigenous Partnership Fund supports ongoing consultation and cooperation with Indigenous peoples to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UN Declaration), the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (UN Declaration Act) and measures included in the UN Declaration Act Action Plan. Implementation, in consultation and cooperation with First Nations, Inuit and Métis, will contribute to the Government of Canada’s continued efforts to break down barriers, combat systemic racism and discrimination, close socio-economic gaps, and promote greater equality and prosperity for Indigenous peoples. Justice Canada will provide funding to support Indigenous peoples’ continued participation in the various implementation, monitoring and oversight processes described in the Action Plan.

 

Settlement Program and Resettlement Assistance Program

Deadline: Wednesday January 31, 2024 at 5pm

Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) funds the Settlement and Resettlement Assistance Programs in accordance with the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act objective to "promote the successful integration of permanent residents into Canada, while recognizing that integration involves mutual obligations for new immigrants and Canadian society". IRCC also administers the Settlement and Resettlement Assistance Programs to help newcomers settle and adapt to life in Canada, setting them on a path to integration and full citizenship. Through these programs, IRCC works with many partners to deliver a set of ongoing high-quality services to newcomers outside Quebec. Under the Canada-Quebec Accord, Quebec is responsible for the delivery of resettlement and settlement services in this province. The purpose of this Call for Proposals is to establish a comprehensive set of regional and national services for the Settlement and Resettlement Assistance Programs across Canada. Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage - Local Festivals

Deadlines:

Building Communities through Arts and Heritage — Local Festivals component provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists; local artisans; local heritage performers or specialists; and local First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural carriers. This includes the celebration of LGBTQ2+ communities and Indigenous cultural celebrations. Black-led Philanthropic Endowment Fund
Deadline : Thursday, February 1, 2024

The Foundation for Black Canadians has launched a call for proposals under the Black-led Philanthropic Endowment Fund. Budget 2021 committed to establishing the Black-led Philanthropic Endowment Fund, which is dedicated to supporting Black-led, Black-focused and Black-serving non-profit organizations and registered charities. This initiative aims to address the unique challenges that Black communities face and to address their priorities. Eligible organizations could receive up to $250,000 in funding.

 

Accelerating innovative solutions to reduce methane emissions from the cattle sector

Deadline: Wednesday February 7, 2024 at 11:59pm

The federal government is looking to advance innovative, scalable and economically viable practices, processes, and technologies that contribute to the net reduction of enteric methane emissions from the cattle sector. For more information or to apply: Challenge | Impact Canada

 

Great Lakes Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative

Deadline: Thursday February 15, 2024 at 11:59pm

The goal of the Great Lakes Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative is to target the most significant environmental challenges affecting Great Lakes water quality and ecosystem health by delivering on Canada’s commitments under the Canada-United States Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA). Several funding streams are available.

Lake Winnipeg basin Program

Deadline: Thursday February 15, 2024 at 11:59pm

Funding is available through the Lake Winnipeg Basin Program to support outcome-focused actions that address program priorities: nutrient reduction, collaborative governance and indigenous engagement. Applicants must submit their project proposal using the Grants and Contributions Enterprise Management System (GCEMS), ECCC’s online application system.

 

Lake of the Woods Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative

Deadline: Thursday February 15, 2024 at 11:59pm

The Lake of the Woods Freshwater Ecosystem Initiative is focused on the most pressing challenge affecting water quality and aquatic ecosystem health in this basin: preventing toxic and nuisance algae. To assist in achieving this goal, Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is making funding available to support action by others to prevent toxic and nuisance algae. Applications have to be submitted online via the Grants and Contributions Enterprise Management System.

 

Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program - Organizational Capacity Building

Deadline: Thursday February 22, 2024 at 11:59 Pacific Time

The Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program will aim to better support organizations that advance anti-racism, foster ethnocultural diversity and inclusion, and promote intercultural and interfaith understanding. The objective of the Organizational Capacity Building component is to provide funding to eligible applicants to build and strengthen their internal capacity to meet the objectives of the Multiculturalism and Anti-Racism Program.  

The Expanded Security Infrastructure Program

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until Sunday March 31, 2024 at 11:59pm

The Communities at Risk: Security Infrastructure Program (SIP) provides time-limited funding and support for communities at risk of hate-motivated incidents/crime to enhance security measures at their gathering spaces. All projects supported through the expanded SIP must be completed and all funding spent by March 31, 2024. Applications for funding will be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Approved project proposals are eligible for funding up to a maximum of 50% of total eligible project costs. To apply for the expanded SIP funding, you must send a completed application formbudget template and any additional required documents, as applicable, to [email protected]

 

Low Carbon Economy Challenge

Deadline: Final funding decisions will be made in summer 2024

The Low Carbon Economy Challenge (the Challenge Fund) leverages Canadian ingenuity to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and generate clean growth. The Challenge Fund continues to support a wide range of Canadian recipients to implement projects that deploy proven, low-carbon technologies resulting in material GHG emissions reductions across sectors, focusing on its cost-effectiveness objective to maximize GHG emissions reductions. Green Freight Program - Stream 1 Assess and Retrofit

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2027

The Green Freight Program will help fleets reduce their fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through fleet energy assessments, fleet retrofits, engine repowers, logistical best-practice implementation and the purchase of low carbon vehicles. Stream 1 of the Program is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per Applicant towards Third-Party Fleet Energy Assessments and Truck/Trailer Equipment Retrofits. Natural Resources Canada has established a list of approved retrofit devices, of which a percentage of the cost will be eligible for a grant. This stream aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of the on-road freight transportation sector to adopt energy efficiency measures tailored to operational needs by providing financial support.

 

Indigenous Leardership Fund

Deadline: March 31, 2027

The Indigenous Leadership Fund is a new program under the Low Carbon Economy Fund. It provides up to $180 million by 2029 to support climate action by Indigenous peoples. The program will fund Indigenous-owned and led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon heating projects. Recognizing the unique rights, interests, and circumstances of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, communities, and organizations, the Indigenous Leadership Fund will use a distinctions-based approach to deliver funding to support projects that are Indigenous-owned and led, advance Indigenous climate leadership and support the self-determined climate, social, and economic priorities of Indigenous peoples. Programming: Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters – Canada Arts Presentation Fund

Deadline: Monday April 1st, 2024

The Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters sub-component of the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) supports existing professional arts festivals and performing arts series presenters to offer activities that connect artists with Canadians in their communities. This is primarily achieved through performances, as well as through audience development and outreach initiatives such as pre- or post-show panel discussions, public lectures and workshops, residencies, demonstrations, public rehearsals, and other forms of community engagement activities.

 

Department of National Defence Indigenous Reconciliation Program - Grants and contributions

Deadline: Funding submissions will be accepted as long as funds remain available for the fiscal year. A funding submission must be made by no later than March 1st of each fiscal year.

The Indigenous Reconciliation Program  provides funding for work that helps build and maintain relationships between Indigenous communities and the Department of National Defence/Canadian Armed Forces (DND/CAF). Starting in fiscal year 2023-2024, up to $1.5 million in grants and contributions funding will be allocated each year through the Indigenous Reconciliation Program. This funding will be available for up to four years, ending in 2026-2027.

 

Canada Cultural Spaces Fund

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Canada Cultural Spaces Fund supports the improvement of physical conditions for arts, heritage culture and creative innovation. The Fund supports renovation and construction projects, the acquisition of specialized equipment and feasibility studies related to cultural spaces. Interested applicants should contact a CCSF program officer at their nearest regional office of the Department of Canadian Heritage prior to submitting an application. Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Black Entrepreneurship Loan Fund is a partnership between the Government of Canada, Black-led business organizations, the Business Development Bank of Canada and other financial institutions. It will provide loans up to $250,000 to Black business owners and entrepreneurs across the country.

The Government of Canada has announced that the Loan Fund is accepting loan applications from Black business owners and entrepreneurs through the Federation of African Canadian Economics (FACE). Visit FACE to apply.

 

Agricultural Clean Technology Program: Research and Innovation Stream

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

As part of the Government of Canada’s strengthened climate plan, A Healthy Environment and a Healthy Economy, the new Agricultural Clean Technology Program aims to create an enabling environment for the development and adoption of clean technology that will help drive the changes required to achieve a low-carbon economy and promote sustainable growth in Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector. The Research and Innovation Stream will support pre-market innovation, including research, development, demonstration and commercialization activities, to develop transformative clean technologies and enable the expansion of current technologies, in 3 priority areas: green energy and energy efficiency, precision agriculture, bioeconomy.

 

Rural Transit Solutions Fund - 2nd Phase

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Rural Transit Solutions Fund supports the development and expansion of locally driven transit solutions to benefit people living in rural, remote, Indigenous, and Northern communities. Eligible applicants can apply for a contribution of up to $3 million for conventional solutions (e.g., vehicle or software) or up to $5 million for zero-emissions transit solutions. Applications to the Rural Transit Solutions Fund’s capital stream will be accepted via the online portal. Infrastructure Canada will provide notification on its website in advance of the closure of the application intake. Applicants are encouraged to review the information in the applicant guide and follow the Step-by-Step Guide to completing the application. Support for Regional Quantum Innovation

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Canada Economic Development's support for regional quantum innovation (RQI) aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and non-profit organizations (NPOs) adopt, develop and commercialize quantum technologies and products based on these technologies. It makes it possible to position SMEs and NPOs, in addition to the Quebec organizations that support them, in this emerging sector and strengthen Canada’s global leadership in the quantum sector. Business scale-up and productivity

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding, which aims to foster innovation and business growth, can be awarded at any stage of a business’s development. Projects submitted by SMEs or NPOs are funded for fostering expansion, productivity and growth through innovation. This funding is provided under the REGI program. Main sectors that are eligible are manufacturing, food processing, information, communications and multimedia technologies and life sciences. Other sectors may also be eligible. Diversify your economy

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This funding aims to promote the regions and foster the development of local economies. Specifically, it is intended to help boost spending by tourists from outside Quebec; increase the presence of international organizations; strengthen economic activity in the regions by supporting local business projects; and generate investments and economic spin-offs through the acquisition of community economic facilities. Regional Innovation Ecosystems

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

This stream targets NPO projects that help create an innovation-friendly entrepreneurial environment that fosters the growth and productivity of businesses in a given region. The funding is provided under the REGI program. To be eligible, projects must meet one of the following objectives: foster closer ties among the players in the various ecosystems; foster the creation, growth and maintenance of regional clusters or attract foreign investment. Main sectors that are eligible: manufacturing, food processing, information and communications technologies and life sciences. Other sectors may also be eligible. Economic Development Initiative – Official Languages

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The aim of this funding is to foster the economic development of official language minority communities (OLMCs). The funding may serve to kickstart innovative or entrepreneurial projects, solidify partnerships or diversify economic activities in these communities. Canada Small Business Financing Program

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

Changes have been made to the Canada Small Business Financing Program  that cut red tape for small business and increase their access to financing. The changes include expanding financing eligibility to cover intangible assets, such as new product trademarks or software upgrades; increasing maximum loan amounts to 1,15 million dollars; extending government coverage periods for equipment and leasehold improvements; and introducing a line of credit option of up to $150,000.

 

Affordable Housing Innovation Fund

The Affordable Housing Innovation Fund  supports new ideas that will drive change and disrupt the industry – ideas and approaches that will evolve the affordable housing sector and create the next generation of housing in Canada. You can get funding for your innovations to:

Preservation Funding for community housing

Deadline : Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Preservation Funding for community housing  is a financial assistance to help community housing providers complete preservation activities related to the sustainability of existing community housing projects. The maximum Preservation Funding available per project to complete eligible activities is $50,000.

 

Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis

The Shelter Enhancement Program (SEP)  is funding to build and repair shelters and housing for people who are fleeing domestic violence. This program is open to all First Nations or First Nation housing organizations that operate housing for people fleeing domestic violence. Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative

Deadline: Applications are reviewed on a continual basis until March 2024

The Indigenous Shelter and Transitional Housing Initiative supports the construction of a minimum of 38 shelters and 50 transitional homes across Canada. Indigenous organizations and governments across Canada are eligible to apply.


The Net-Zero Challenge for Businesses
The government announced the launch of the Net-Zero Challenge, a new national voluntary initiative for businesses operating in Canada. Businesses that join the Challenge commit to developing and implementing credible and effective plans to transition their facilities and operations to net-zero emissions by 2050. Companies will benefit from technical guidance, best practices, a community of peer businesses and the opportunity to highlight their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions. The Net-Zero Challenge also includes various participation tiers to encourage ambition and track progress in net-zero planning.

 

The Canada Digital Adoption Program

Determined to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) realize their full potential by adopting digital technologies, the Government of Canada has launched the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP). CDAP comprises two separate funding components:


National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations

Earlier this year, the Government of Canada announced that up to $50 million would be dedicated to building housing for Black communities.  Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund: Black-led Organizations, up to 40% targeted funding for new affordable housing for Black households will be available. This program is designed to help Black-led organizations build housing and increase the supply of affordable housing for Black communities in Canada. The Fund prioritizes partnerships between Black-led organizations and other partners such as governments, non-profit organizations and other similar groups.

Coming up : Tourism Growth Program

The program will support Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities, small and medium-sized businesses and not-for-profit organizations in developing local, community-level tourism products and experiences to help more domestic and international visitors discover all that Canada has to offer. Funding through the Tourism Growth Program is available to a range of tourism businesses and organizations across Canada, and the maximum contribution amount to a project is $250,000. Next Agricultural Policy Framework

Deadline: Sunday, December 31, 2023

The Next Policy Framework (NPF) is a five-year (2023–2028) investment by federal, provincial and territorial (FPT) governments to strengthen and grow Canada's agriculture and agri-food sector. It will replace the Canadian Agricultural Partnership (CAP), which ends March 31, 2023. The government wants to consult Canadians, including stakeholders such as producers, processors, Indigenous communities, women in agriculture, youth, environmental organizations, and small and emerging sectors to develop the Framework. Initial consultations on the NPF will seek stakeholder feedback on both current and potential challenges and opportunities facing the sector and on prospective priorities and vision for the NPF.

 

Canada’s participation in treaty negotiations on artificial intelligence at the Council of Europe

Deadline: Saturday, January 10, 2024

The purpose of the treaty is to address potential harms and risks associated with the design, development and use of AI. The treaty could set out rights, obligations and principles to ensure that the design, development and use of AI systems respect human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Canada is not a member of the CoE, but it participates in the organization as an observer state. Canada has been invited to participate in the negotiations, along with other observer states. Participating in the negotiations will allow Canada to help shape the treaty to reflect Canadian values and interests, while promoting Canadian objectives on AI in the context of potential risks to human rights, democracy and the rule of law. Participating in the negotiations does not automatically mean that Canada will adopt the treaty. Strategy to replace, reduce or refine vertebrate animal testing

Additional public consultations on measures to modernize Canada’s approach to countering foreign interference
Deadline : Friday, February 2, 2024
The government launched additional public consultations on measures to modernize Canada’s approach to countering foreign interference. Public consultation on the foreign influence transparency registry have recently concluded, and the results are now available. These additional consultations announced will focus on potential legislative amendments to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service Act, the Criminal Code, the Security of Information Act and the Canada Evidence Act. Anyone living in Canada, or Canadians living abroad, are encouraged to share their views through the consultation webpage. Online submissions will be accepted until February 2, 2024. In addition, to the online public consultations, the government will also seek the input of experts, stakeholders, and community groups through roundtable discussions in the coming weeks and months. 

Pre-Budget Consultations 2024

The Government of Canada is inviting all Canadians to share their ideas as part of pre-budget consultations on how to best support Canadians, Canadian businesses, and the Canadian economy. The feedback received from Canadians will help inform measures and investments in Budget 2024 that will help build an economy that works for everyone. Market Basket Measure of poverty (2023-base) consultative engagement

Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2023

Statistics Canada invites you to complete a short crowdsourcing survey to help validate how we measure poverty in Canada: Survey on the Market Basket Measure of Poverty. By selecting your province or territory, city, family size and housing tenure information, you can find out how much a family would need to spend in order to live above the poverty line in your community. The consultative engagement phase of the third comprehensive review of the MBM began with the publication of Launch of the Third Comprehensive Review of the Market Basket Measure. These consultative engagement activities will help inform decisions made to refine and update Canada's official poverty measure. By participating in this consultation, you will support Statistics Canada's ability to accurately measure poverty.

 

Co-developing distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation
The Government of Canada, in collaboration with Indigenous partners and the provinces and territories, is developing new distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation to facilitate access to high quality, culturally appropriate health services. Consultations for a New Housing Design Catalogue Initiative

Upcoming in January

The federal government announced that it will start consultations in early January 2024 to develop a new housing design catalogue. The goal is to compile pre-approved designs that will allow homes to be built faster and more cost-effectively across the country. More information to come in January.

The Public Service Pension Advisory Committee is mandated to advise and assist the President of the Treasury Board on matters arising in connection with the operation of the Public Service Superannuation Act. The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) is Canada’s federal funding agency for health research. Composed of 13 Institutes, CIHR provides leadership and collaborates with partners and researchers across Canada. Governing Council members develop the strategic directions, goals and policies of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research; they evaluate the Canadian Institutes of Health Research’s overall performance, including with respect to the achievement of its objectives; approve the Institute’s budget; and are responsible for establishing the mandate and evaluating the performance of the Institutes.
