We wish to inform you of the following federal calls for proposals, consultations, and appointment opportunities that are currently open. We bring to your attention the 2025 prebudget consultations closing on Friday, August 2, 2024 as well as the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program and the New Horizons for Seniors Program that will be opening soon.

CALLS FOR PROPOSALS 

 
Official Languages Support Programs 

Deadline: Various deadlines depending on the specific program  

The Department of Canadian Heritage supports two official languages funding programs from which several initiatives are derived. The collective goal of these programs is to enhance the vitality of English- and French-speaking minority communities and Promote the English and French languages in Canadian society. 

 

Court Challenges Program 

Deadline for Funding (Language Rights)Wednesday, July 31, 2024; Thursday, October 31, 2024 and Wednesday, January 29, 2025.  

Deadline for Funding Human RightsFriday, July 26, 2024 and Friday, October 25, 2024.  

The modernized CCP will provide financial support to individuals and groups in Canada to bring cases of national significance related to certain constitutional and quasi-constitutional official language and human rights before the courts. 

The Canadian Apprenticeship Strategy’s Union Training and Innovation Program (UTIP) - Union Sustainable Jobs Stream 

Deadline: Thursday, September 5, 2024

An investment of $70.5 millions over five years will help unions and their partners provide green training to over 14,000 apprentices and journeypersons. This call for proposals will support tens of thousands of workers to upgrade or gain new skills for jobs in the low-carbon economy.

New Horizons for Seniors Program
Deadline: Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 3pm

Starting August 1, 2024, organizations can apply for the New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) Community-Based grant. The NHSP is a federal grant that supports community-based projects designed by seniors for seniors. Further program information and eligibility criteria can be found at the link the NHSP funding Page, which will be updated outlining this year’s requirements on August 1, 2024.  

The Co-operative Housing Development Program (CHDP)

Deadline: Sunday, September 15, 2024

The CHDP Program was co-designed with the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada and other leaders in the co-op sector and will provide loans and contributions to build and grow co-ops across Canada. This $1.5 billion program is the largest investment in co-op housing in 30 years and will help create a new generation of co-operative housing across Canada. This includes approximately $500 million in contributions and $1 billion in loans to help build, and grow, co-ops across Canada.

 

AgriInvest 

Deadline: Monday, September 30, 2024 to submit your 2023 form without penalty

AgriInvest is one of the business risk management programs the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). AgriInvest is a self-managed producer-government savings account designed to help you manage small income declines and make investments to manage risk and improve market income. 

 

AgriStability  

Deadline: Monday, September 30, 2024, to submit your 2023 form without penalty 

AgriStability is one of the Business Risk Management programs under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). AgriStability protects Canadian producers against large declines in farming income for reasons such as production loss, increased costs and market conditions. 

AgriStability is a margin based program designed to help producers manage large income declines. 

Each year, you must enroll in the program, pay your fee and submit a form by the applicable deadlines. 

 

Indigenous Art Acquisition Program

Deadline: Monday, October 1, 2024

The Indigenous Art Centre and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) invite Indigenous artists to apply to the 2024 to 2025 peer juried Indigenous art acquisition program. Call for art submissions by Indigenous artists in Canada

 

Canada Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program 

Deadline: The Program accepts applications for indemnity twice per year: 

Through the Canadian Travelling Exhibitions Indemnification Program, the Government of Canada assumes the financial risk for loss and damage to objects and appurtenances on loan for eligible travelling exhibitions in Canadian museums, art galleries or other cultural institutions. The Program has 2 objectives: to increase access to Canadian and world heritage through the exchange of artefacts and exhibitions in Canada; and to help reduce the financial cost of insurance and allow Canadian art galleries, museums, archives and libraries to present high-quality exhibitions on themes and with contents of national or global significance 

 
Enabling Accessibility Fund - Youth Innovation Component
Deadline: Friday, October 4, 2024 at 3pm

Through this call for proposals, Canadian youth between the ages of 15 to 30, are encouraged to become youth accessibility leaders (YALs). The role of a YAL allows for youth to identify accessibility barriers within their communities, and then partner with a local organization on an accessibility project to secure up to $12,000 in funding to help address barriers in community spaces and workplaces and create a more inclusive environment for all. Interested youth must submit their expressions of interest in being designated a youth accessibility leader (YAL) by October 4, 2024 at 3 p.m. EDT. Eligible organizations must submit their funding application(s) by November 1, 2024 at 3 p.m. EDT. Government of Canada announces new funding opportunity to strengthen youth leadership and increase accessibility and inclusion - Canada.ca

Building Communities through Arts and Heritage - Local festivals 

Deadlines: Tuesday, October 15, 2024 for festivals starting between 1 July and 31 August of the next calendar year 

The Local Festivals component of the Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program provides funding to local groups for recurring festivals that present the work of local artists; local artisans; local heritage performers or specialists; and local First Nations, Inuit, and Métis cultural carriers. This includes the celebration of LGBTQ2+ communities and Indigenous cultural celebrations. 

 
Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program
Deadline : Wednesday, October 16, 2024

The Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program is launching its third intake.
- Small and medium retrofits : Eligible applicants with small and medium-sized projects to retrofit existing community buildings ranging in total eligible cost from $100,000 to $2,999,999 can apply from August 1, 2024 until October 16, 2024, 15:00 ET.
- Large retrofits and new builds : Eligible applicants with large projects to retrofit existing community buildings or projects to build new community buildings with total eligible costs ranging from $3 million to $25 million can apply from September 4, 2024 until October 16, 2024, 15:00 ET.

 

Canada Cultural Investment Fund  

Deadline for Endowment Incentives : Sunday, December 1 

Deadline for Limited Support to Endangered Arts Organizations : Applications are accepted at any time throughout the year. 

The Canada Cultural Investment Fund encourages private sector investment, partnership and sound business practices to help arts and heritage organizations be better rooted and recognized in their communities. The Canada Cultural Investment Fund provides support through three components: The Strategic Initiatives component provides financial assistance for projects involving multiple partners that will help arts and heritage organizations improve their business practices and diversify their revenues. The Endowment Incentives component encourages arts organizations to build new revenue streams. Canadians are encouraged to support the arts by providing donations to professional arts organization's endowment fund. The government provides a funding incentive for these donations. The Limited Support to Endangered Arts Organizations component supports those rare instances where a professional arts organization faces the prospect of closure but there is a high degree of support for its continuation and a viable business/restructuring plan. Assistance through this component can enable an arts organization to restructure, so it can continue to contribute to the community it is serving. 

 

Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund - Indigenous Grants Program 

Deadline: Tuesday, December 31, 2024 

The Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund (CMIF) will provide up to $1.5 billion in federal funding over seven years for clean energy and transportation infrastructure projects necessary to enable the sustainable development and expansion of critical minerals in Canada. The CMIF currently offers grants to support Indigenous engagement, participation and capacity building related to infrastructure projects that would enable critical minerals development. 

 

Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVAI) - Indigenous-led projects pilot 

Deadline: Monday, March 31, 2025 

The Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVEI) supports projects that aim to increase awareness, knowledge and public confidence in zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and public charging and refueling infrastructure. The ZEVAI helps fund outreach, education, and capacity-building activities, ultimately enabling greater adoption of ZEVs by Canadians in all regions of the country. The Ingidenous-led projects pilot program supports Indigenous-led projects that aim to address awareness and knowledge gaps related to all types of ZEVs, lower-carbon medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, and clean fuels, such as clean hydrogen and biofuels. 

  

Tourism Growth Program 

Deadline: Tuesday, March 31, 2026 

The Tourism Growth Program is now open in Quebec, with a budget of $21.1 million. SMEs, NPOs and social economy enterprises active in the tourism industry can now apply to the program through Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED). CED’s support focuses on increasing the capacity of local tourist attractions to enhance their potential to attract visitors from outside Quebec by supporting the development of tourism products and experiences, in particular in rural and remote regions. 

 

Green Freight Program - Stream 1 Assess and Retrofit 

Deadline: Applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis until March 31, 2027 

The Green Freight Program will help fleets reduce their fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through fleet energy assessments, fleet retrofits, engine repowers, logistical best-practice implementation and the purchase of low carbon vehicles. Stream 1 of the Program is providing grant funding up to a maximum of $250,000 per Applicant towards Third-Party Fleet Energy Assessments and Truck/Trailer Equipment Retrofits. Natural Resources Canada has established a list of approved retrofit devices, of which a percentage of the cost will be eligible for a grant. This stream aims to increase the knowledge and capacity of the on-road freight transportation sector to adopt energy efficiency measures tailored to operational needs by providing financial support. 

 

The Low Carbon Economy Fund - Indigenous Leadership Fund 

Deadline: Wednesday, March 31, 2027 

The Low Carbon Economy Fund (LCEF) supports projects to reduce Canada’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, generate clean growth, build resilient communities, and create good jobs for Canadians. The Indigenous Leadership Fund is a new program under the Low Carbon Economy Fund to support climate action by Indigenous peoples. The program will fund Indigenous-owned and led renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon heating projects. Recognizing the unique rights, interests, and circumstances of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis governments, communities, and organizations, the Indigenous Leadership Fund will use a distinctions-based approach to deliver funding to support projects that are Indigenous-owned and led, advance Indigenous climate leadership and support the self-determined climate, social, and economic priorities of Indigenous peoples. Indigenous Leadership Fund - Canada.ca 

 

Wine Sector Support Program

Deadline: Friday, May 24, 2024, for applications for the 2024-25 program year. The program ends on March 31, 2027.

The Wine Sector Support Program aims to provide short-term financial support to licensed Canadian wineries as they transition and adapt to ongoing and emerging challenges impacting the financial resilience and competitiveness of the wine industry.

 

AgriAssurance Program 

Deadline : Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2027, or until all funding has been allowed

The AgriAssurance Program is a $64.05-million program under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). The program will: 

 

AgriMarketing Program 

Deadline: Tuesday, September 30, 2027, or until all funding has been allowed

The AgriMarketing Program is a $129.97-million program under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP). The program will support national agricultural sectors to increase and diversify exports to international markets and seize domestic market opportunities and grow the economy by increasing and diversifying Canadian exports of agriculture, agri-food, agri-based products, including fish and seafood, by increasing the visibility of Canadian products and increasing the capacity of exporting producers to identify and seize market development opportunities in targeted markets 

 

Canada Music Fund 

Application deadline for individual and collective initiatives: Please contact the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings(FACTOR) and Fondation Musicaction (Musicaction)  for application deadlines.

The Individual Initiatives component provides financial assistance to undertake activities that are central to the development of Canadian artists, the promotion of their music and the expansion of their audience. Examples of supported activities under this component include the production and marketing of Canadian sound recordings, domestic and international touring (including showcases) of Canadian artists, artist management, publishing of Canadian musical works and business development. Applicants have access to annual funding either through comprehensive envelope funding or project-by-project support. The Collective Initiatives component provides financial assistance to undertake activities that help Canadian artists and industry professionals gain a greater profile at home and abroad, increase their artistic and business skills, and build their export-readiness and overall competitiveness. 

 

Canada Media Fund 

Application deadline: Various deadlines depending on the financing program. Learn more about the CMF funding programs. 

The Canada Media Fund (CMF) supports the creation of popular, innovative Canadian content and software applications. The CMF is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the Canadian television and digital media industries through two streams of funding. The Experimental Stream encourages the development of innovative, interactive content and leading-edge software applications for digital media platforms. The Convergent Stream supports the creation of convergent television and digital media content which Canadians anytime, anywhere. 

 

Canada Arts Presentation Fund 

Deadline for programming Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters: applicants must contact their regional office to determine which deadline is appropriate for their organization. 

Deadline for Development: All applicants must contact the nearest regional office of the Department of Canadian Heritage to verify the application deadline. 

The CAPF provides financial assistance to organizations that professionally present arts festivals or performing arts series (arts presenters) and organizations that offer support to arts presenters. The CAPF has 2 main components — Programming and Development. The Programming component has 2 streams: Professional Arts Festivals and Performing Arts Series Presenters; and Presenter Support Organizations.The Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF) is committed to providing equitable funding opportunities that reflect the many perspectives of Canada’s cultural life. Special considerations may be given by the program to funding applications submitted by organizations from or supporting Indigenous, Black, racialized, official language minority and 2SLGBTQI+ communities, organizations that are women-led, or serving D/deaf people and people living with a disability. 

 

Joint Initiative for Digital Citizen Research  

Deadline for Postdoctoral Fellowship Supplements, Doctoral Award Supplements and for Connection Grants : Expected to be announced in the near future. Please ensure that you visit this webpage in the coming months. 

Canadian Heritage is partnering with the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) to provide funding support through arm’s-length SSHRC Connection Grants as well as supplements to recipients of SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellowships and SSHRC Doctoral Awards (Canada Graduate Scholarships - Doctoral Scholarships and SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships). The purpose of this funding is to:

Deadline for employers: The deadlines for internship applications are determined by the delivery organization that administers the program, the Fédération de la jeunesse canadienne-française (FJCF). Please contact the FJCF to inquire about deadlines. 

Young Canada Works (YCW) offers a variety of short-term job and internship programs to job seekers and employers.Students can apply to two short-term job programs, while graduates can apply to two internship programs. Consultations on potential policy responses to unfair Chinese trade practices in electric vehicles

Deadline: Thursday, August 1, 2024

The federal government announced a consultation on potential policy responses to protect Canada’s auto workers and its growing EV industry from China’s unfair trade policies and practices, and prevent trade diversion resulting from recent action taken by Canadian trading partners.

House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance 2025 Prebudget Consultations
Deadline: Friday, August 2, 2024

The House of Commons Standing Committee on Finance is inviting Canadians to participate in its annual pre-budget consultations process. The committee will table a report on these consultations in the House of Commons with recommendations to be considered by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance in the development of the 2025 federal budget. All those who submit a written brief will be considered as having made a request to appear. Note that pre-budget consultations will also be held by the Department of Finance in the coming months, we will keep you updated.

Co-developing distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation

The Government of Canada, in collaboration with Indigenous partners and the provinces and territories, is developing new distinctions-based Indigenous health legislation to facilitate access to high quality, culturally appropriate health services. Members of the Employment Insurance Board of Appeal

Deadlines: Wednesday, July 31 and Thursday, September 19 depending on the position

The federal government has launched a selection process to seek applications from a diverse range of qualified Canadians for appointment to the new Employment Insurance Board of Appeal (EI BOA). The EI Board of Appeal will act as an independent administrative tribunal composed of regionally based three member panels representing the government, workers, and employers equally to better serve Canadians. The BOA will be mandated to provide simple, quick, and fair hearings on first level EI appeals.

 

Member of the Net-Zero Advisory Body

Deadline: Wednesday, September 18, 2024

Under the Canadian Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act, the Net-Zero Advisory Body is mandated to provide the Minister of Environment and Climate Change with independent advice with respect to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.  Candidates should apply online via the Governor in Council Appointments website. Odyssey – Language Assistant Program 

Deadline: Open for applications 

Odyssey is a bilingual, paid work experience that provides opportunities for postsecondary students to travel to another province. English-speaking candidates can work in English in Quebec or New Brunswick, while French-speaking candidates can work in French in a province or territory other than their own. Participants work 25 hours per week and receive a taxable salary of $27,000 for a nine-month work term. 

 
Youth Exchanges Canada
Deadline: Applications reviewed on a continual basis
The Exchanges Canada Program helps youth to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the country, while connecting with other youth in Canada. Youth Exchanges Canada supports a number of Canadian organizations in offering reciprocal exchanges for individual youth or groups of youth, generally between the ages of 12 and 17. Youth from different parts of the country are paired according to their ages and interests, then each participant takes a turn hosting their “twin” in their home.
